Sturt ABL women out of finals

Looks like the sturt women will for the first time in as long a time as i can remember be light on for quality and not make the finals.
No Bowley, No Burgess and at this stage import Tess Madgen has not re-signed. I also heard a rumour that Holmes and Maycock are not playing. There are 4 starting spots up for grabs for their juniors. Do they have any juniors up and coming that can fill their shoes and make them final contenders??

Wouldn't it be great for basketball if they played and developed the younger players and didn't do a Norwood!

The start of the season is 2 months away and you're already writing a team off? Has no one learnt the lesson from last year in writing of the Eagles?

Long way to go until ABL finals and I would expect a proud club like Sturt to put a very competitive team on the floor.

I wouldn't worry too much about Sturt - sure they will get some players and their U23/1s are doing ok.

Which will be scary if they rely on the U23's as Woodville are currently top of that competition

i'd be more concerned about the lack of 195cm + women playing high level basketball in SA

No im more worried about the general depth of womens basketball. There are very few even at ABL level over 188 cm let alone 195cm. Theres probably less than 4 over 188 playing ABL currently i do stand corrected if im wrong.

probably illustrates why basketball is in the doghouse.......forestville's star is a norwood star tomorrow and a sturt star the year after.

Basketball at senior level is not a club thing, it's a whoever you can get for the season argy bargy that definitely contributes to no one following the sport.

So this is going nowhere because no one really has a clue. All speculation based on zero facts. It becomes a bit tedious after a while.
