Townsville Vs. Wollongong, @ Townsville

In a rare display of transparency, the NBL has conceded that refs made many incorrect calls resulting in Townsville forward Elvin Mims fouling out in 16 mins in Townsville's meltdown against NZ last round:

Another week, another article about how Ben Allen is not going to be pushed around this week:

http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au/article/2011/12/02/287851_sport.html

Why does he make it so hard on himself? If he just shut up and play, he would be in a much better position. So much talk, so little game...

Sportsbet.com.au odds: TSV $1.40, The 'Gong $2.96

P Crawford ....
Is he the most under-rated player in the NBL.
Every week he gives 200% and can win a match on his own. Just another exceptional performance again tonight.
PS : Got him in my fantasy team too !!!!!

The TV clock was down to zero before there was any contact to Cedar on that last player. Either that clock was early or they made a bad mistake.

This season, PC is attacking the rim like a man possessed, and is clutch as a mofo on D and O.

You could almost make the case for him being the best clutch player in the league nowadays...

His attacking game this season (which hasn't really been present since his first stint with the Crocs when he was a slashing, undersized Brad Newley type), has just opened up his entire game. It gives him so many open looks now he doesnt just rely on his perimeter game. He's got no vertical left but he's learned how to play below the rim as a guard.

Mims was a gem, especially on D.

Good to see them win without Holmes carrying them too.

People might say, hey it's a half-assed opponent, but anytime these two teams go against each other it is war. The most bitter rivalry in the NBL, IMO.

Also, Schensch looks as skinny as a cancer patient... those few months off have let the few muscles he had drip right off him...

Still. Problems for the Crocs abound when they aren't relying on defensive pressure turning into layups or individual offensive brilliance in general.

I guess that's what you expect when you run as small a team as they do, but the real test of where this team is at is if they can keep that fast-break/secondary-break facet of their style intact while counteracting it with a slow-down grind when the Big Red takes the floor now he is game-ready.

Cedar call was legit no matter which way you look at it. Saw it in the flesh; was reviewed on video by refs and confirmed before he was granted free-throws.

Agreed mick, replay on the big screen clearly showed cedar getting fouled before the light behind the backboard goes off. Very entertaining game, throat is a bit croaky this morning from all the screaming!

problem was the light behind the backboard went on 1.5 seconds after the full time was up

*play not player.

But yeah, the contact occured after the clock hit zero but before the buzzer went off somehow.

Gongers miss Ervin! He would make them a contender if still there. I like Rhys Martin as a back up. He's a good player but sucks offensively sometimes!
Big Luke played a big role toward the end!

Interesting tactic by Woolpert to get Ben Allen's head right: every time Allen made a shot, Woolpert pulled him from the game immediately, so he would be going to the bench with his head up and crowd applause rather than to the usual jeers and laughs.

Worked well IMO.

Mick.Allen only made 2 shots and they were within a few seconds of each other in the first quarter. He did come out a little while after his 4pt outburst but from my reading of the game he was subbed out each time because he has the lateral movement on "D" of something akin to a supertanker. Not sure what game you watched.

Clock goes to zero but still has 1 second to run in tenths of a second. One on some games where the game clock has the capacity with its output shows tenths of a second remaining with the clock reading 0:4 for example. Thus the Townsville clock was in this phase

At the end of the 3rd quarter the same thing occurred. Hawks had free throws with 0:00 showing on the clock but the buzzer had not sounded.

FSTOS: yeah but what I'm saying is Woolpert pulled him as soon as he contributed something positive, rather than waiting for him to get his usual false confidence and do something bone headed...
