More than who care about what you think.

Yeah i dont really care what Boti thinks, but in general, id say hype wise, the second time Adelaide got Julius Hodge, and now perhaps Mills, even though id dont think he will be as good as people think in this league. From what they ended up achieving, Robert Rose in his hey day and insane, he started in early 90's and dominated throughout a massive era of talent.

Mark Davis
Ricky Grace
James Crawford
Leroy Loggins
Al Green

All these guys had long lasting careers and put bumbs on seats.

To even consider a flash in the pan like Hodge even near these guys is rediculous.

Referring to the HYPE of Hodge's return, was against Melbourne coincidentally. I canr remember an Nbl game with so much excitement over a recruit. Not ridiculous at all

Sure one game worth of hype, but the rest of these guys created seasons of hype, and are remembered for more than one stomping session

Why do we only consider imports as recruits?

Surely every player has been recruited into a club?

If so, why aren't the likes of Maher, Gaze and (dare I say it) Ronaldson up there....they were all big craw cards in their time.

What about Mee? He put bums on seats wherever he played.

Kirk Penney from a local market perspective. NZ have gone from the bottom with 1000 people a game, to champions with over three times that many attending and by far and away the league's best tv ratings.

What about Goorjian? Although he was playing for Melbourne before the NBL started, he was recruited to the Tigers from OS. As a player, you wouldn't pick him but his overall impact on the NBL as a player and a coach has been more substantial than most people I can think of.

BTW - I don't like the guy.

If we're talking players, I'd have to pop for Leroy, with Rose and Davis close behind. Both of them changed the league and how the game was played. People went out recruiting players just to emulate or combat those guys. Their longevity was excellent as well.

Not the greatest (OS) recruit maybe, but one of the most interesting and out-there recruits was Rimas Kurtinaitis, by the Suns (now Crocodiles) in their first year.

I like Rimas. The only Olympic gold medallist to play in the NBL if my memory serves.

Any takers on the only NBA champion to play in the NBL (as an import).

Jax didn't win his championship with the Spurs until after his short NBL stint though.

Branch was the only import to play in the NBL AFTER winning a NBA championship.

Sorry, I needed to be clearer.
