Khimky pens 2-year deal with Matt Nielsen - Aug 1, 2011 (by Eurobasket News)

Matt Nielsen (208-F/C-78, agency: Beo Basket) heads to Russia. The experienced Australian signed a two-year deal with Khimky Moscow. Nielsen spent last season with Olympiakos. He had 9 ppg and 3.8 rpg for the Reds in 16 Greek league games. In Euroleague, Nielsen added 4.4 ppg and 2.9 rpg. He helped Olympiacos to defend the Greek Cup trophy this year. Season 2009/10, Matt Nielsen spent with Valencia. He led them to EuroCup title with 9.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 2.5 apg. In ACB, Nielsen added 8.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 2.9 apg for 36 games. From 2005 until November of 2009, Nielsen was a member of Lietuvos Rytas. In the past, he also played for PAO and Sydney Kings. With Rytas, Nielsen won three Baltic league titles and one trophy in LKL. Matt Nielsen is active member of the Australian NT since 2000.

Great news for Nielsen IMO - he was out of favour due to injury at Olympiakos and although a great team, the Greek league is a shambles
