Tom Daly 23 points against Montenegro! Great effort. No one has signed him yet have they?

Some of the guys playing for Turkey and Montenegro are solid players in good European competitions, and the Chinese team has some proven internationals in it.

I think we definitely need more teams in the NBL so guys like Daley can get a chance to play back-up minutes (not just get the odd stint because of injuries) and improve.

How many of the WUG team would get an NBL contract this year if looking for one? Gynes only has because Sydney like to have a 12 man roster. Madgen had little interest last year, Dillon and Walker struggled getting deals coming back from college.

Yet here is the WUG team being more than competitive with teams containing some proven pros. Bring on Brisbane, Newcastle and a second Melbourne team I say.

"Bring on Brisbane, Newcastle and a second Melbourne team I say."

The thing is though with this is that in at least the first season, like the Kings in 10/11, you're going to see any new teams starting off considerably weaker as other legitimate teams have had many years to build their talent base, cement relationships with players and build a high quality of core players... It's great that Tom had a standout game, but let's be realistic, he still IS a 9th-11th level player, and imports aside, can you REALLY build a competitive team from the players left on the free agents market for ONE team, let alone two?

When people say the talent in the NBL has been watered down or not as strong as it used to be, I look at that meaning that it's the players available at the end of the season for other teams to choose from that is watered down...

Some good points there Wookiee, but dont you think it is important to have places for talented young players to develop? Isnt that more important than an NBL team struggling for a year or two?

I'm all for growing talent, but a team isn't going to be financially viable enough with a team of young development and old has-been players that no-one else wants and then it will be a wasted experiment when they go bust... There's really not any viable options for any of our Euro-based players to come back as key signings as most of them are all in their prime and several years away from coming back to the NBL you'd imagine... There's no way of introducing more teams into the league without having such an imbalanced level of talent unless you implement some sort of drastic spread of the wealth...
