remaing NBL free agents

may well have missed a few and some arent really free agents ( penny) but the pickings are slim for teams to slot players into

Adelaide 36ers
Jacob Holmes
Tom Daly - D
Jan Warbout - D

Cairns Taipans
Aaron Grabau
Phill Jones
Dean Brebner
Lindsay Tait
Deba George
Gareth Dawson - D
James Mitchell - D
Christopher Daniel

Gold Coast Blaze
James Maye - R
Pero Vasiljevic
Shaun Gleeson
Darryl Hudson - R
Ira Clark - R
Ater Majok
Luke Kendall
Brendon Teys - D
Jaydan Tom - D
Karl Nillson - D

Melbourne Tigers
Luke Nevill
Yusuf Qaafow
Wade Helliwell
Bo Westover
Moses Adepoju
Robbie Stone
Thomas Stephens - D
Edin Zunic - D

New Zealand Breakers
CJ Bruton
Leon Henry
Kirk Penney
Josh Bloxman - D
Benny Anthony - D

Perth Wildcats
Shawn Redhage
Greg Hire
Jarrad Prior
Jarrod Balcombe - D

Sydney Kings
Blagoj Janev
Ben Knight
Damien Ryan
Jared Scoines
Mark Dickel
Joel Wagner
Kevin White
Ben Hollis - D
Jarred Weeks - D

Townsville Crocodiles
Peter Crawford
Brad Williamson
Chris Cedar - D
Keegan Tudehope - D

Wollongong Hawks
Tim Behrendorff
Dan Jackson
Tyson Demos
Zac Delaney - D
Jordan Berry - D

Other players (included by request)
Greg Vanderjagt
Daniel Joyce
Cameron Mccallum
Tanner Kerry
Galen Young - R
Kevin Johnson - R
David Vanderjagt
Neil Mottram
Andrew Rice

Out of all those names Holmes would be the best available depending on your team needs.

Has Pero done his dash? would be some good grunt off the bench for the 36ers

Would sixer fans have Ben Knight as a veteran big off the bench?

There looks to be a genuine shortage of talent in the league now. Melbourne have done well in locking away 10 legit players where as everyone else will be running 7/8 deep and 3 towel waivers.

Pretty sure both Crawford (Crocs) and CJ (NZ) have re-signed.

Not many decent names left there that are actually signable, id love to see what Adleiade had up its sleeve, ot perhaps it has a singlet on, and the season is already doomed...again! Retaining Holmes is bad for so many reasons, they cant go down the 'J-Diddy' path....again. Me player, not a winner and destroys the offensive rythm.

Surprised Ben Knight isn't signed up with the Kings; considering he was their captain last year and had a few brilliant games in terms of FG%.

Honestly, if DJ can pick up those extra 6-7 boards per game, the Holmes doesn't really have much going for him.

That also includes if your backup at the PF and C spots can rake in 9-10 boards together, then you're already replacing Dowdell and Holmes stats wise.

I'll be honest and say that apart from Penney (not free) and Redhage (questionable) then the free agent list looks rather dull.

No Deal!!

Being that the sixers only have 1 roster spot for an non import player I don't think there is any need for panic.

Everyone has to remember this list doesn't include players that are overseas at the moment, or guys that may end up coming back from college.

Any chance Luke Nevill comes back to the NBL?

If so he would be a good addition for the sixers.

30minutes for Nevill and Ballinger and 20min for Johnson, plus a young PF in case of injury.

Sixers will have a bunch of shooters so extra height and rebounds would be great.

Re: Breakers
Penney isn't a free agent, he has an out clause for Europe and NBA.
Benny Anthony has signed a 2year deal.
CJ is signed for another season.

Says in the paper this morning we will sign our 2 imports in the coming weeks, but probably will take some time before signing the remaining Aussie.
Still waiting on Ervin of course. Either we don't really have a back-up plan for missing out on Ervin, or our other options don't really have a time frame for us to sign them. I'm assuming we are going to ride it out on Ervin for as long as it needs to take. I hope, however that we also have solid plan Bs incase it doesn't end up the way we all hope.
Haven't really heard whisper at all about any possible bigs on our watch list. Assuming this position also is dependant on the Ervin outcome. We possibly have cheaper options and more expensive options here.
Just a hypothetical based on assumed salary, but possibly we are looking at say a Massingale/local league cheaper type and a Ira Clark/Gary Wilkinson type if Ervin doesn't sign, whereas if Ervin signs we might need to be more budget with our big import.

On a side note, surprised to see Redhage's name here. Why isn't he re-signed with Perth?
Not a lot of quality left on that list. Nevill would be the pick of the bunch, but not sure whether he'd be available this season?
Anyone have a current list for each team? Any teams needing more than 1 or 2 aussies to fill their list?

Is Reghage still injured from last season?

MACDUB

Sixers should look at Leon Henry.
Has the potential to be a great player.
Received the MVP award at the Breakers China Tournament in pre-season.

6"7 swingman with a nice shot. Athleticism and length to execute around the key. Nice defensive player as well. Would be extremely cheap as well!

Agree Macdub, good athletic player and cheap and he's not going to get a look in at the Breakers past injury cover with Abercrombie etc around. He trained with them pretty much all of last season after Penney slotted back into the line up after his trial with the Spurs.

On the added free agents list I think both Greg and David Vanderjagt are solid prospects and players worth signing as a back-up big man.

Older brother Greg is a legitimate centre with NBL experience and an ability to defend the paint and finish plays. His size is excellent and he has been a tower of strength at ABA level for years now.

Younger brother David, 22, is an even more exciting prospect than Greg. He is of similar height, weighs less but is far more agile and athletic. With constant workouts, his shooting range is legitimately to 3-point land and he can handle the ball extremely well. His low-post scoring needs work but as a young big man he is certainly worth a spot.

Neil Mottram, Andrew Rice and Cameron McCallum are also reasonable replacements for team's looking at end of the bench big men. (Eg. Townsville and Adelaide)
