36ers should look at Jerry Smith

A lightning quick player, tearing up the NZ League.
Great fundamentals--No surprise seeing as though he was a valuable member of the Rick Pitino coached University of Louisville.

Assnt coach of the Breakers has labelled his speed on par with Gary Ervin. Much better shooter though, great defensive pressure, rebounds well for a combo guard also.

Breakers are looking at replacing Braswell with him.

If the 36ers are unable to snag Ervin, they should definately look at signing Jerry Smith.
It would definently provide more than past imports..would be a cheapish import as well.

The Breakers are LOOKING at him. They haven't actually Braswell yet. Every ANBL team is looking around at different players..its the nature of the league. Look at Abercrombie..a scout from the Rockets came out to Oz to have a look at him when in reality an NBA deal was/is a longshot.

He wants a bigger role apparently and is looking around. Hasnt ruled out returning I dont think, but his Achilles ijury from the weekend could have an impact on that.

Jerry Smith sounds like the type of player NZ needs, young, quick, good defender, decent shooter. The only question is how he will go in the NBL. Remember that Corey Webster and Daryl Hudson are two of the leading scorers in the NZNBL. Smith has a good background under Pitino though.

Brawell has ruptured his achilles playing for the Southland Sharks in NZBL and will require surgury so he may not be recovered in time for start of NBL season.
