Lightning squad for China trip

Boti is reporting on the Adelaide Lightning team that will play the Chinese National Team and club teams later this month:

Dandenong championship star Emily McInerny will guest alongside Adelaide regulars Erin Phillips, Jenni Screen, Erin Seward and Cherie Smith. McInerny will take Laura Summerton's spot, the Lightning Olympian trialling for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

Coming into Chris Lucas' group are U.S. centre-forward Tammy Standish, Canberra pair Nerrida Cooper and Kellie Abrams and exciting youngsters Elyse Penaluna and Leah Mencel. Cooper and Mencel both are playing locally with West. "Cooper still has an agreement with Canberra but has indicated she would like to stay here," Lucas said. "She is a great athlete." She is also 186cm while at 17 and 192cm, Melbourne-born Penaluna is an exciting prospect.

That should make ABA Games interesting over next few weeks. Forestville without Screen & Smith, West without Seward, Cooper & Mencel.

The article didn't give any dates, just later this month, but over the next 4 games (not counting this weekend). Forestville play Woodville, Centrals, Southern & South so you would say based on current rankings they should not be too bad off, however over the same period West are to play Centrals, North, Norwood & Eastern. They would have pencilled in both Eastern & Norwood as wins but without three key players they may struggle to get wins there.
