Mens Round 1 Preview
West Vs Eastern (Adelaide Hills)
- West by 20
- West looked good in patches over the preseason tourney, whilst eastern didn't play. Eastern I imagine will start the season without Brad Hill, Aaron Bruce and Ben Madgen so will be playing with very little offensive power (Could be a different story if Hill suits up). West to take this one out comfortably.
North Vs Woodville (Hillcrest)
- Woodvile by 4
- North will be better drilled and fitter than woodville, but are extremely small and will have problems stopping the likes of blight, pilkington and reeves. With no Rhys Carter, Bond and Elliot will have to step up to get the win. Anyones game.
Centrals Vs South (Starplex)
- Centrals by 10
- I mean ... does anyone actually care about this game? I don't know a whole lot about these two teams, but I think south will struggle until they have DJ and Creek. Carlin vs Prest, Frost/Clarke vs Boal. The matchups are even (and boring) enough, but centrals have an import. Anyone's game.
Forrestville Vs Southern (Wayville)
- Forrestville by 20
- Southern will be relying on Florence and their bohemoth 6"6 150kg import in order to make this competitive. Florence will shoot 10/30 from the field. Import will foul out in 3rd quarter. Forrestville to have a field day.
MATCH OF THE ROUND
Norwood Vs Sturt (Mars)
Predicted Starters:
Sturt: Daly/Ng/Klaosen/Warbout/Marriot
Norwood: Matthews/A.Webber/Howell/Krause/Cooper
Norwood V Sturt games are always physical. Last years regular season encounter resulted in 4 ejections and a Norwood win (With sturt ultimately winning the title).
Norwood are comfortably the most experienced team in the league adding Cooper and Hambour to the expereinced Matthews, Thompson, Krause, and Andrew "everyone hates me" Webber. Whilst sturt are one of the youngest teams in the league (4 of the 5 starters are 21 or younger)
Sturt wont have Holmes this weekend but I imagine Darren Ng will suit up after just recovering from a 2 month injury and craving some basketball. Sturt will struggle with Norwoods rediculous height. Cooper, Hambour, Krause, Thompson matching up on Warbout and Marriot.
Daly to score 25 after a big year improving with the sixers. Warbout and Marriot might struggle to impact the game offensivly going up against stronger bodies, so Ng, Klaosen and Bauer will all have to get their scoring shoes on.
In the end Norwood's depth will run over Sturt.
Norwood by 10.
