Finding Forrester is about a kid at school and focusses on his education, but combining it by playing hoops if I'm not mistaken? However very much a marginal basketball movie much in the mould of Forget Paris I would say.

King James, More than a game, is actually a doco on Lebrons High School team. not a Movie as such. Fits more in the mould of MJ's Playground, Air Time etc.

Amazing doco, if you haven't seen it, highly recommend it, and i am not the worlds biggest Lebron fan, but that doco is great.

I have added "More than a Game" and "Hooked" to the list.

Whilst a like a lot of basketball movies, my personal favourites include White Man Can't Jump, Coach Carter, Hoosiers and He Got Game.

I've never personally seen Church Ball or Just Wright. Probably worth doing a google search,

He has "Hoop Dreams" so that is similar to "More than a game".

Church ball is a light hearted feel good sports movie. If it was going cheap at a DVD sale I'd buy it but I wouldn't pay top dollar for it.

Isn't there a scene in one of the Lethal Weapon movies where they are shooting hoops in the gym? There would be quite a lot of movies where that sort of thing happens.

How far removed from the actual story line did you want the basketball content to be?

Basketball IMO should be a recurring theme if not the central component of the movie to make it on this list.

Scenes in movies where the characters shoot hoops such as the Lethal Weapon example and which is common to many TV shows will not get in on this list. That for mine is a whole different list altogether.

Also - I remember as a young hoops junkie watching a movie about a guy who made it onto the Lakers roster (Mitch Kupchak played the obligatory genuine basketball talent). I can't think of the name (I think the heroes name was Rory) and none of the names on the list jog my memory.

We're talking early eighties cinema release (though I susepct very short-lived and not very wide).

"Skyhook" - English Title (2000, Serbia)

Saw this on SBS sometime ago (8-9 years ago). Thought it was pretty good - framing the civil war in context of basketball (or vice versa). Like most movies from that part of the world focusing on that era it is pretty dark and uncompromising (with a pretty fatalistic sense of humor).
