Mitch Creek Wins Under 20s MVP

As you can tell from the title, our own Mitch "Wolf" Creek is the best player under the age of 20 in our country...Not a bad effort!!! Well Done to the young fella, there's no doubt this kid has a bright future ahead of him.

I'm in the process to try find out what his averages are, so please bear with me...

Both Drmic and Creek had OK finals, not outstanding...Queensland played a mighty game to keep it close.

Mitch Norton is the NEXT BIG THING in Basketball.

Thought MVP could have gone to Igor, Drmic or Creek. Anyone of those players were worthy of it.

Townsville boy, Mitch Norton had 29 in the final and almost took the Qlders to the win...

He's at the AIS and has been in the Aust U18 & U20 teams for a couple of years.

He will be very good but has to decide if he wants to go to College in the states or NBL after he's done at the AIS.

But here's the interesting one - as good as all these guys were - so was Mitch McCarron - shown the door from the AIS less than a week into 'Stacker time'.

Mitch McCarron

15.7 pts (10th)
9.8 rbds (3rd)
3.7 ass (=2nd)

58.5% FG
14.3% 3Pt (1-7)
70.8% FT

Those numbers stack up pretty well to me - particularly for a 6'1 kid playing out of position at power/small forward, on a team which pushed the Vics all the way. (Naturally a recently-departed AIS attendee (who hasn't gone onto the NBL) doesn't make a good case for the Staunton Award).

Not saying Creek wasn't deserving but as has been pointed out, there were a number of other worthy candidates.

Anon, its very easy to find this stuff: here's tyler (and it includes summaries of his junior participation since 2007 which is pretty cool for a junior athlete).

you might have to copy and paste the link in if it breaks here.
