2011 NBA All Star Game
The West is able withstand a furious East finish to win 148-143.
Kobe Bryant was the hometown MVP for a 37 point and 14 rebound double-double explosion over the East's LeBron James' 29 point, 12 rebound and 10 assist triple-double. Who was more deserving? I guess it was always going to go to the hometown player...just like the dunk contest...
Interestingly when Jordan racked up an All Star triple-double in 1997, he too was overlooked for the All Star MVP award in favour of Glenn Rice who scored an NBA All Star game record of 20 third quarter points and 24 second half points for 26 in total for the game.
