Also he said Chris Lucas will be coaching Sturt's womens team and perhaps not coincidentally that Angela Marino won't be signed by Sturt this season

Will be interesting to see how many Torrens Valley players (eg Vucetic) make the trip across town with him.

Umm, if any Torrens Valley players make the trip the Warriors will struggle. I think Al may be looking elsewhere for recruits.

Then it would be the Green and Gold show at Woodville

The men get Al Green for big money and the women get Karen Winter, Woodville's financial priorites have never been illustrated better.

why are we guessing it cost big money to get Al, he is coaching the ABL men, the u/23 men and is coordinating the juniors.

take all three salaries and roll them into one.

clubs do this all the time to pay the head mens coach more. not a new thing.

Has he sold his interest in torrens valley ? Otherwise its a bit of a conflict of interest, isn't it ?

Coach: since when do U23 coaches get paid? And don't woodville have 3 junior coordinators now for males and 3 for females as a way of paying people?

Women's coach appointed last year - the club was happy to appoint the coach. Sure numeration in accordance with CV was mutually agreed to.

Through due process club appoint Green to Men's Program. Nothing to do with priority - maybe more to do with opportunity.

End of day clubs appoint best candidates - so have higher profile eg Alan Green Chris Lucas Brad Davidson - others are building profile.

conflict of interest is nothing that affects basketball - consider a coach president at 2 different clubs coach / parent of kids at other clubs - happens all the time get over it

Why didnt woodville get the best available coach for the women instead of rushing into a novice? Sounds like prioriy to men over women to me.

Think might find the Women's was annoited rather than appointed. Allowing smooth transition from Assistant to Coach and maintain growth of juniors.

It is none of anyone's business apart from Al Green and WDBC how much he gets paid or does not get paid - I dont see any questions on how much other coaches get paid in the CABL - it is their private business.

Not the business of all the gossip mongers on this forum who appear to have a near fanatical interest in Woodville.

Think you'll find the gossip/rumour mongers are more closer to home than you think. Only ever seems to be Woodville supporters posting complaints.

Strange things happen all the time; eg North coach helping with 36ers happens to get a West player in 36 development squad out to North as well as a player from Southern also trialled with 36ers out there if rumors are correct. Coach of U23's also coaches girls at West.

No-one seems to have a go at this "recruiting" to supplement a spiralling out of control junior development

if the under 23s coach is the abl assistant or the head coach then they all get paid

No real change in process here.

The only reason everyone is making comments on the warriors is that they were last to finalise a coach and then when they did they did it with a high profile basketball identity . If it wasn't al green there would be no hype.

Sounds like someone needs to get thier facts right before making any comments

The said Coach had nothing with the west player moving nor did the coach of the u/23s and as for the Southern player is now living in the northen suburbs and want to play with some mates at North, Instead of writing crap ask the guys yourself and you will find out....

Right im over reading the BS about my club and my team. How about ppl on here who think they know everything about everything stop making comments about something that they really have no F#@%ING idea about!

FACT- Karen Appointed LAST year as a successor to Lynne WHILE the mens job was STILL FILLED BY MARK. Hence no advertisement etc.

Mark left due to personal reasons, Nothing to do with the team club etc.

Al approached US for the job and due to profile/experience would most likely be getting paid (my opinion) and well worth it already if you ask me!

The fact we have 6 JDO's doesnt matter a shit because I very much Doubt they are getting paid and if they are it wouldnt be a massive some of money.

So people. GET A LIFE and worry about what your club is doing. We are doing the best we can to make things better and we dont need idiots on here having pots shots at us because we have gone out and hired a high profile coach or because we have decided to do something a bit different with the JDO's! Its just childish crap half of this thread!

You wouldnt attract pot shots if you had gone out and got a high profile coach for the women because its long over due and since when has woodville admitted to succession of coaches, is winter there for a decade too? Surely woodville want the best coach they can get for the women too? You wouldn't get flac if your six jdo's were getting results but they are not so wear it on the chin. Spend some money in the right areas not perpetuate the gravy train where tired office bearers are the eternal winners.

Its no suprise that Magic have more teams than woodville and rejected advances to merge because of the sit on your hands mentality at woodville. literally a club for boys only.

a/ I can't believe Woodville left Lynne at the helm for so long when they sat at the bottom of the ladder the entire time;
b/ The amount of really good players they lost over the years as a direct result of Lynne was phenomenal;
c/ After FINALLY getting rid of her, they go and appoint someone with very little experience and someone who I can't see will ever get results.
d/ Woodville will continue with their current mediocre performances until they have a clear-out of their committee;
e/ That will never happen.

What they saved by appointing winter could go to buying a high profile men's coach couldn't it?

Why didn't the men settle for a rookie then? Can't see any crap about Winter on here only amazement at the management of the club that sets different standards for its mens and womens abl teams.

Standard sets for Warriors womens team are those standard Warriors Committee want obviously. They appointed the coaches.Who do you think appoints coaches -?? Same as every club does ? Give suggestion how it should be different. Clubs always act in best interest - but easy to be critical.

I don't think it was in anyone's best interest for Lyn to remain coach for as long as she did and essentially the committee must take collective blame for standing still.
That said, after a decade of one coach with no success they opt for one of the girls as coach which is ridiculous. As for the committee I think both lyn and karen are on the committee/s and there's the issue.

From my understanding, Karen is due to give birth at the beginning of the season and Lyn will take over. Therefore nothing has really changed. Just let it go.

Next seson Woodville will announce a new direction in Womens senior coaches. A new person will be at the helm for season 2012.

Billy: The issues at Woodville wont be fixed by changes in the senior women's role alone. Lyn had so much time in charge and we are now looking at the legacy of that reign.
The junior girls have never been in worse shape and are unrecognisable to a few years ago when the future was bright.No div 1 girls in 12's and a div 1, 14's that are winless for a year is not an ideal base for development Removing the people she/they did sent the club on a downward spiral and it has very little chance of an easy recovery.
They had Jenette at U14's who should have taken over the senior role two or three years ago while there was a solid junior program to build on. Now a new direction at senior level isn't worth a pinch of the proverbial because there is no junior development, numbers or quality coaches to guide that development.
Rather than spend money at the ABL level, Woodville need to spend money on a Junior Development and end the farce of multiple JDO's overseeing 6 teams. Get the best available person, spend the money to get him/her and rebuild your juniors.
