Maya Moore scored a career-high 41 points as the No. 1 UConn women's basketball team now owns the longest win streak in college basketball history with 89 consecutive victories. UConn defeated Florida State 93-62 in front of a sold out crowd of 16,294 at the XL Center on Tuesday night.
The Huskies topped the 88-game win streak by John Wooden's UCLA men's team from 1971-74, which they tied on Sunday, Dec. 19 in an 81-50 victory over Ohio State.

Very big record breakiong achievement led my college superstar Maya Moore who is likely to be selected #1 in the next WNBA draft ahead of our own Liz Cambage.

For sure. But conversely that's what makes this achievement by UConn slightly less impressive. The lack of parity in women's college ball takes just a little bit of the gloss off it for me. Geno is a legend for sure, but because of that the best players flock to him, and the success of his programme snowballs. It has been incredible over the last decade.
Still, these are kids, meaning that inconsistency is virtually guaranteed, so this is an amazing record in its own right.
