Sydney Kings roster and imports

okay, the imports tonight against nz had 30/80 points, 9/39 boards, took 33/80 shots, 5/16 assists and had 6/13 turnovers in approx 62 mins. is this good enough for import combos?

when nz imports had the following
24/94 points, 10/44 boards, 17/72 shots, 8/21 assists, 3/13 turnovers in approx 44 minutes.

where should sydney go to from here? i think they need 1 more good quality starter- ie matt nielsen or dave barlow- ideally if they had both they would like like this (they could then get rid of janev and scoines) this starting 5 would be WAY more competitive.

STARTERS/BENCH
PG- BARLOW/WAGNER/MADGEN/MARTIN
SG- MCCULLOUGH/RYAN/COOPER
SF- SANDERS/DANN
PF- NIELSEN/KNIGHT/SCOINES
C- KHAZZOUH/JANEV

These are the player I'd like to see them keep for next year.

Cooper/Wagner
/Madgen
/
/Dann
Khazzouh

I doubt they could afford the team you suggested...

Sanders is no improvement on Grizzard. He doesn't beat his man and is always shooting contested tough jumpers

Wagner is not ready for the nbl. He has no offensive weapons. He can't penetrate or create his own shot and doesn't worry anyone with his defence, size or athleticism . Wagner is safe with the ball but thats it

How many dud imports have we seen in the NBL this season?

Winder
Dorsey
Freeman
Maye
Gruber
McCullough
Grizzard
Sanders
Campbell
Devendorf

with DeVries, Lisch, Blalock, Clark, Homicide, Braswell & Wilkinson being around average Ubaka good and Ervin standout MVP favourite.

Nielsen would probably be getting paid more than the current Kings team.

get rid of US imports and keep it home grown players only, there isnt enough cash in the NBL to get decent imports, the ball handling skills of the kings imports are attrocious

McCullough is just an average player. Putting it on floor is not his go. Shooting is erratic because he is always under pressure.
Sanders is athletic, but he is a jumping jack who shoots tough jumpers. Nothing easy to hoop or outside the arc.
Both players are hamstrung by poor PG. Luke Martin has been terrible coming back from injury.
The team is continually let down by Khazzouh's inability to defend the pick and roll. Teams score so easily against them, they are always having to come from behind on scoreboard.
Madgen is pretty much doing what you would expect McCullough to do, only he is more effective.

Have also heard that re McCullough. Wonder if we'll see any more cut? I think the Breakers imports could be safe. Not so sure about Freeman. Melbourne might as well just close out the season with Devendorf. Lisch would be fine. Cairns won't rush to mess with what's working. Blaze have already replaced both of theirs.

Anstey on Twitter:

Very excited about the likelihood of having another ex teammate from Russia join the NBL!! Stay tuned
In Melbourne maybe? Where'd Anstey play in Russia?

Winder to the Kings?

Isaac - unlikely. They want a big forward to take pressure off Khazzouh. Might look elsewhere for backcourt help.

Anstey played for Ural and Kazan in Russia, both very good teams so an import from those days would likely be quality. Having said that, McCullough had some big nights against good Euro teams and he was pretty average here.

would a wade helliwell do well at the kings as back up to khazzouh?

The kings made a mistake when cutting Grizzard ....well that was after they made the mistake of playing hims as a 3-4 man .....same mistake the Tigers made when he was there .... In Singapore he played 2-3 man with much more success ....Would have been better to keep Grizzard in the Kings team and let him play the 2 man role - hard to find a better team man than Grizzard ......
