Correct me if I'm wrong because I don't know all that much about Euroleague, but Barcelona plays in the Spanish domestic comp (like Joe's current team Granada) but is an upgrade because:

1. It's a stronger team
2. It plays in the Euroleague

Is that right?

Here are the current Euroleague teams - Spain has five teams, the most of any country.

Correct on both accounts.

Joe may not get as much court time as when he was with Granada but FCB they play a large rotation as they have a strong bench (plus they have had a few injuries and players out of form this season).

This could be good for Joe's NBA aspirations too as most of the Barcelona squad are under constant watch from NBA scouts.

Be interesting if Joe makes it for the Euroleague match this week. They play Caja Laboral (who are also in the Euroleague) next weekend in the Spanish league which is a massive game too.

Wow. that's huge. The Spanish ACB is easily the 2nd best domestic competition in the world, behind the NBA.
IMO, though, the ACB is more pure basketball and so pretty to watch.
Best of luck to Joe. He will learn an unbelievable amount. He will be around guys like Navarro, Rubio, F.Vasquez. Let's not forget Barcelona bet the Lakers earlier this year! :p

Yet to be confirmed by either club, but translated an article online:

Subsequently confirmed by other portals such as solobasket.com , although no official confirmation of the clubs, the Australian had flown this same Sunday in Barcelona to join the staff on Monday led by Xavi Pascual, since the Catalan club takes time looking for a replacement for the injured Gianluca Basile.

According tubasket.com the agreement, including a large sum of money for CB Granada, is total between the two clubs.

Wow - that is a massive move from Ingles. If it goes through, it is yet another Aussie on one of the biggest teams in world basketball.

Barcelona are one of the favourites to not only win the Spanish ACB, but also Euroleague as well.

This explains the likely move:

According to http://basket-spot.blogspot.com, there are two new signings from two ACB clubs. Regal Barcelona, relatively shocked against Fenerbahce at Palau Blaugrana, reinforced the squad with Joe Ingles, the CB Granada player. The injury of Gianluca Basile and the below par performance from Ricky Rubio probably made Javi Pascual take that decision. Ingles played with his national team at the World Championships in ?stanbul, where they were eliminated at last 16 stage against Slovenia

Awesome news.

Joe's development was a little bit limited at Granada because he was close to their most talented player and could get away with a bit. But he is now playing against many of the best players in the world in the Euroleague and will also be expected to be very disciplined to Barcelona's structures.

Good luck Joe.

BTW - you can watch most Spanish league games, live and replayed, free at www.acb.com. You can also subscribe to Euroleague TV but that isnt cheap.

I think he is pretty well appreciated.

Would be great if BA could get Barcelona to tour out here and play a couple of NBL teams next September.

Paul, given the high number of Greek's in Melbourne and to a lesser extent Sydney, Olympiakos or Panathinaikos woudl also be good teams to bring out given Nielsen and Maric are on their teams. Now that Iverson nis at Besiktas alongside Ogilvy, they too would be a good choice to bring out to Oz.

if you look at his numbers, he generally gets up for the big games. The game against Argentina come to mind, also the game against Barcelona where he scored 25.

I'm sure he was appreciated out here.Only negative I had was his consistancy.
If he's putting in 4 solid qtrs a game now days then he has vastly improved and well done to him.
