Matt Knight out of Sunshine Swing
Chris Pike of NBL.com.au is reporting that Perth Wildcat Matthew Knight will miss the 'Sunshine Swing' against Cairns and Townsville this weekend due to an ankle injury.
The ankle had pulled up reasonably well by Tuesday morning after a few days of rest and physio to the point where Knight returned to the training court this morning, but his ankle again swelled up and left the big man consigned to watch on.
The decision has since been made that he will now not travel to play either Townsville or Cairns this weekend. Development player Greg Hire will make the trip and is a chance to make his NBL debut if he earns some court time.
Coach Rob Beveridge:
"The physio has looked at it and it's not good enough to risk at this point of the season. He will stay at home now and keep working on it, and he'll be 100 per cent ready to go next week back home against New Zealand."
"We are disappointed for Matty, but that's sport and there's no point whining about it. We just have to get on with the job now."
