Big Guys that have played the 2/3 spot?

Hi guys,

Was thinking about this recently. What big guys (6ft 5 and over) have effectively played the 2 and 3 spot. I think David Barlow is the most recent in the NBL- others? What about NBA?

The average NBL SG in recent times is 6'5, and the average SF just over 6'6, so most of them.

A few guys over 6'5 in recent times: Ingles, Barlow, Redhage, Mackinnon, Saville, Worthington (initially with Kings), B Hill, Rush, Dann, Coenraad, Weigh, Donta Smith, Thomas, Abercrombie, M Hill, Holmes, Grizzard, McCullough, Hodge, Greer, Boodnikoff, Tucker, Tovey, Vukona, Cattalini, Storey, Forman, Freeman, Blanchfield, Lewis, Jackson, Newley etc etc

Dave Thomas started at shooting guard all season long with Melbourne in a title team. Stood at 204cm

Stephen Weigh (199cm), Tim Coenraad (200cm), Cameron Tovey (200cm), Brad Williamson (198cm), Brad Hill (198cm) and Graeme Dann (202cm) are Aussie players who rotate through the 2/3 spots and are up over 6-6".

In the NBA, your typical 2 man in 6-6" or above, the small forward is 6-8" and your PF and centre both stand over 6-10" and 7-0".

On the other hand we certainly have smaller players. Michael Cedar (190cm) is a 2 guard. Peter Crawford on the same squad is only (193cm) at the 2/3 spot.
Ayinde Ubaka (190cm) when in the 2 spot is only small and Eric Devendorf (190cm), Daryl Corletto (193cm) and Kevin Lisch (193cm) are smaller guards.

I believe NBL averages are approx PG: 6'2, SG: 6'5, SF: 6'6, PF: 6'8 (although will be 6'9 this year), C: 6'11, whereas NBA is PG: 6'2, SG: 6'6, SF: 6'8, PF: 6'9, C: 7'0

Donte Greene of the Sac Kings played the 3 last year at about 6"10 1/2, albeit inconsistently. According to reports, he has grown in the off-season and may now be a 7 footer. Will be interesting to see how he comes along this year!
