Name your team

If you took player salaries out of the picture and where they currently play and had to pick a team based on the following list of player points, who would your team be. Remember you only have 70 points and would need to use only imports that are on the list.

List Here

My Team
PG - N Croswell (6)/R Carter(5)
SG - S Weigh (7)/N Herbert (6)
SF - L Rush (9)/B Williamson (7)
PF - M Worthington(10)/J Holmes (7)
C - D Johnson (6)/G Vanderjagt (5)/S Harris (2)

Total Points = 70

I haven't looked at the list but I'd be inclined to load up the starting five a lot more and go with 3 to 5 pointers off the bench.

Awesome thread Flinders!

My team is as follows:

PG: D. Martin (7), L. Martin (4)
SG: Lisch (9), Goulding (6)
SF: Weigh (7), Herbert (6)
PF: Wortho (10), Petrie (8)
C : Burston (8), Vanderjagt(5)

Really wanted Carter in as the backup but needed to shave a point.
Toughness, defensive ability, leadership and proven ability to win.

I like it, good thread:

M Knight (9)
Petrie (8)
Penney (10)
D Martin (7)
Bruton (10)

Burston (8)
Wagstaff (6)
Coenraad (6)
Dillon (3)
Cadee (3)

I think that team would cost somewhere between $1.1 - $1.2 million though. Would need some players to sign for less with the desire to play for a championship team.

paul i like your team. dont need an overally deep bench with 40 minutes anyway. i was gunna put a team together but i really like that one. if u could use goulding as his internal rating i would have him instead of dillon haha. i like it but. i would maybe change bruton for gibson and bring vukona in instead of coenrad or wagstaff. not sure about points but exactly.

L Neville 9
Balls 10
L Rush 9
Penney 10
Gibbo 8

Goulding 6
L Martin 4
D Johnson 6
VASILJEVIC 5
J Cadee 3

Not sure how much Pero has in the tank...may need to get creative with a Neil Motram and Walker combination to round out the bench.
Plenty of size, some guys with handles, scorting from land of plenty. Problaby thin on the slashers but I love Rush and Goulding. If Balls went down it might be a bit ugly.

Good work people. Some interesting thoughts going around. I like the people who are loading up with their starting 5, however remember a deep bench means a lot more scouting of a team. Hoped more people would get involved. It really shows how people would pick. I like my team but I'm probably another star in my starting 5 away from some of the other teams picked. Really like some of the teams being put together.

Great thread - made you really think about the team you select...

Gibson (8)
Penney (10)
Weigh (7)
Loughton (9)
Nevill (9)

Crosswell (6)
Goulding (6)
Wagstaff (6)
Trueman (4)
Vanderjagt (5)

TOTAL 70

C - Daniel Johnson(6)/Neil Mottram(6)
PF - Adam Ballinger(10)/Jesse Wagstaff(6)
SF - Kirk Penney(10)/ Thomas Abercrombie(7)
SG - James Harvey(8/ Chris Goulding(6)
PG - Damian Martin(7)/ Luke Martin (4)

Reasonably small team but plenty of scoring options in harvey penney and balls. defensive stoppers in damian martin and abercrombie. also shooters off the bench in goulding, waggstaff, luke martin is a streaky 3 point shot. Mottram, Goulding, Abercrombie and Luke Martin also bring fantastic hustle off the bench!

Thanks Walker! I was tossing up Vukona and Hinder but went for Petrie instead, as he gives great D but a little more size than Mika and more versatility than Russ.

My team is a bit different than just a straight up 2 of each position.

Penney (10)
Worthington (10)
Knight (9)
Gibson (8)
Davidson (8)
Martin (7)
Goulding (6)
Johnson (6)
Carter (5)
Pledger (1)

Depth chart is:
PG: Martin/Carter
SG: Penney/Gibson
SF: Worthington/Penney/Goulding
PF: Worthington/Davidson/Knight
C: Knight/Johnson/Pledger

This would be a 9 man rotation, with Pledger never used. Worthington mainly being used as a SF, but can also run him as PF when Knight goes to C and Penney/Goulding would go to SF.
Basically you start with Martin, Gibson, Penney, Worthington and Knight, with Carter, Goulding, Davidson and Johnson on the bench.

Loughton and Neville would cause some headaches in how to defend them.

I actually think that pairing might struggle together because they are both relatively immobile for their positions.

I put together a team of nbl free agents, that i rekcon would be a pretty handy roster an still missing guys like Dickel and Mottram, so i reckon their is enough talent for another nbl team to enter sometime,

C Vandergagt(5)/Vasiljevic(5)
PF Worhington(10)/Young(9)
SF Rush(9)/Fitzgerald(3)
SG Kendall(7)/Rillie(6)
PG Mckee(10)/Crosswell(6)

(even if you thought i would be too hard to get Wortho back from europe and excluded rille to retirement and replaced them with Mottram and Dickel thats still a half decent team.)

Adds upto 70 points and if the nbl were also able to bring back guys like newley, ingles, mills, jawai, baynes, ogilvy, maric, etc there would be plenty of talent for another team or 2, i wouldnt mind seeing an 11 or 12 team league one day, as i think their is enough aussie talet for it.
