He's not a stranger to basketball, having refereed at Div 1 level in Victoria. He understands officiating at the elite level. Also he proved he was human when he marked the ball in an AFL game.

I think(hope) he is the right choice

Yes, spot on HO and Harry Hopeless.

Carey has officiated and coached basketball at very high levels in Victoria. His talents were not just on the AFL football field (if that is what you call it!).

Michael Aylen looks after AFL umpires. So if they are happy to have a basketball referee looking after their umpires, it can only help having the AFL looking after ours.

Peter Carey the right choice. You have to be kidding. This guy is an icy pole. But hey, at least hes not actually taking the court, that would be the end of the NBL.

As for his daughter, have seen her ref several times and the word 'average' come to mind. Not to mention she would have a hard time of it at the pub on the weekend - perhaps thats why she refs??
