Sixers Imports All-Star Team

Given that talking about imports is all the rage this week, have we run a "Sixers Imports All-Star Team" thread before?

Boti's list over at AdelaideNow has the list.

I'm thinking:

First 5
-----------
C - Bill Jones
PF - Mark Davis
SF - Adam Ballinger
SG - Robert Rose
PG - Darnell Mee

Bench
-----------
C - Dwayne Nelson
SF - Kevin Brooks
G - Al Green
G - Willie Farley
G - Butch Hays

Squad
-----------
Dan Clausen
John Gilchrist

Great call there.

But, what about the "scream team"?

Going on statistics, I suggest the following

1: Butch Hays - APG 9.0 (1990), 6.6 (1991)

Better than Darnell Mee's stats in several categories. Darnell wins steals pg at 2.6 to 2.2

2: Al Green - PPG 31 (1985)

3: Robert Rose - 26.8 ppg (1995)

4: Mark Davis - Leading offensive and defensive rebounder all time. 27.9 ppg (1985), 27.2ppg (1990)

5: Dan Clausen - 18 rpg (1984), 30.5ppg (1984, 3.2 Blocks pg (1984)

The bench would be

1: Darnell Mee

2: Willie Farley

3: Kevin Brooks

4: Ballinger

5: Bill Jones

Al Green and Dwayne Nelson were never imports with the 36ers. They were Aussies.

Half right Moses, Al Green was not an import with the 36ers, he played as an import with West Adelaide in 1984. In 1985, he joined the 36ers but not as an import. However, Dwayne Nelson was an import with the 36ers in 1983. The Team was created as the Adelaide City Eagles in 1982 and renamed as the Adelaide 36ers in 1983.

Refer to this link and also the 36ers website.

While statistically, my former offering may have been the best, less Al Green who I have found to be ineligible, I think the Team that "The Journo" has put up would be the best playing team as a group.

Rick Brunson played 10 years in the NBA! No other 36er has gone close to that!

"Bomb" makes a good point as Rick Brunson was the MVP in 1995-6, his only season with the 36ers. Most of the other players mentioned had several seasons in the NBL. Brunson's NBA career scoring average of 3.2, playing for 10 teams (8 different) in 9 seasons in the NBA hardly rates him as an outstanding NBA player.
