Opals beat USA in friendly
No LJ.
The Jayco Australian Opals have overpowered the United States, 87-72, in a 'friendly' scrimmage in Connecticut, USA overnight.
The Jayco Opals were without star Lauren Jackson who is still recovering from a concussion suffered in a WNBA game on July 3.
Despite the absence of Jackson, the Australians were able to pull off the victory, a result they have not been able to achieve against the USA in official tournaments in recent years.
With both teams ensconced in training camps this week, and the USA playing against a WNBA All-Star team the previous night, both coaches ran out their full squads, 15 players per team, in the encounter.
