NH: Wimbledon - longest tennis match in history!
The longest tennis match in tennis history is still not yet complete at Wimbledon, with the game being suspended due to bad light.
American 23rd seed John Isner and qualifier Nicolas Mahut of France are currently playing a 2nd round contest, and are locked at 59-59 in the fifth set.
They have been playing each other for exactly 10 hours, with the 5th set alone so far taking 7 hours and 6 minutes! In fact their 5th set alone breaks the full-match record of 6 hours and 33 minutes set at the 2004 French Open.
the stats are so far amazing - Isner has 98 aces, Mahut 95, with both eclipsing the previous high in a match at any tournament which stood at 78. There have been 881 points, 612 alone in the fifth set. Isner has compiled 218 winners, Mahut 217. Isner has only 44 unforced errors, Mahut 37.
The scoreboard currently reads like this:
4-6 6-3 7-6 (7-3) 6-7 (3-7) 59-59
