Emus wrap up China tour in style
16.06.10
The Emus have defeated China 67-55 before another large vocal crowd in the final game of their China tour.

Igor Hadziomerovic and Mitchell Creek (9 rebounds) both top scored with 12 points. Nathan Spehr had 11 points in support.

The Chinese started the game at a furious pace and established an early lead. They were strongly supported by the large parochial crowd. The Emus rallied with a series of defensive stops followed with good transition baskets and were able to go into the half time break leading by 4 points.

The second half proved to be a real tussle with the game becoming very physical. As the half developed the Emus gained their composure and establish a 10 point lead midway through the final quarter. The Emus going onto record a well deserved win under testing conditions.

Head Coach Damian Cotter commented after the game "It was pleasing to finish the tour with a win and especially winning all three games in Phase 3 of the 4 Nations tournament. It has been an invaluable experience for us, playing against significantly different styles and dealing with the rigors of travel within a culture that differs for our own."

From the final siren the Emus had 45 minutes to get back to the hotel, shower, eat, load the bus and then depart to begin their homeward journey.

The Emus have completed their China tour with a 7 wins / 2 loss record.
