dome no more

It is about time that we revisited the name for our basketball stadium. It had cred when it was the power house but the dome? That change was to give the Distinctive homes a bit of alliteration. The last owner should have changed it to the learning centre or Groves' graveyard. So what sho0uld it be now?

ou know that is something the SOS group should look into...

A pole to rename the Dome for a new name..something with power and meaning and try and make it a place no one bar 36ers fan want to come too....

I think you mean a poll, not a pole....although that could be interesting.

It's got nothing to do with SOS (at this stage) as they have no control over the dome. Whilst that doesn't stop them from unofficially renaming it, given the stadium's current precarious position, it's probably best not to get involved.

First thing that came to mind was a word association. The SOS group are there as backers to the 36ers so I next thought Lighthouse. But thats leaving me wide open for bad puns !
Anyway ,just the BMC "Brett Maher Court" will do.If you were there like i was that "night"(no im not going to mention THE name) the crowds passion was furious. The BMC does it for me.

pay $75,000 and call it whatever u want. Naming rights are pretty sheap if the team is winning and it is getting media coverage.

$75k is probably around the mark, perhaps a tad short - I would think more like $100-125.

1. Don't rush to rename while ownership and sponsorship is up in the air - could well change soon enough. Then again, it's been a while without a 'real' name.

2. Naming rights sponsorship isn't that outrageous compared with what Clipsal were once paying. As todd lover said, someone could take it up.

Reckon that's good value.
(dome people didn't renew - not sure - a coupla years ago and still gets called that in media and the like)
Always liked the ideas of naming competition - whereby named by winning entry. Good promotion, advertising . Like designing Ports jumper - things like that.

Free to air, makes it an attractive proposition in my thoughts.

BMC works well as a stop gap.

I too liked the "powerhouse". We need a name that is always used regardless of who the naming rights sponsor is then any new sponsor adds their name to the stadium name eg: Mcdonalds Powerhouse, Commonwealth bank Powerhouse ect. Other clubs do that, we all know Cairns as the snake pit regardless of who their naming rights sponsor is.

Nice name SRT070, we should re-badged the team to the "Adelaide Schooners" or the "Adelaide Beers".

MMW, Distinctive Homes are no longer naming rights sponsor. If the 36ers signed Willie Farley, I bet they'd be sponsors again!

haha lets not go to far, gotta keep the 36ers name in the team unless your suggesting the "adelaide 36 beers"? i just like the name power house alot and the pale house sounds similar yet not. i think the coopers pale house could really work well.

Coopers Beer House, with a Coopers Beer Garden out the front post game with some cheerleaders pouring from kegs, merch stand, signing area for a couple of players after each match, etc.

Here is my thought

because we are the sixers and the number of the devil is 666(sixers)

So why dont we call the stadium "The Hell Dome"

and i know we wanted to get rid of the name dome but this name just rolls off the tongue tho

Reply #277911 | Report this post

SRT070
Years ago

Sorry banker i disagree i think the dome part ruins the name, although i do like the idea you have brought to the thread. and considering the sixers top has gone back to the red it does work well.

what about "Devils lair" or "hells arena" or vice versa Hells lair or devils arena. "hells garden". although with this deathish sort of theme it seems a bit kiddy more than anything. still beats the hell out of the dome. im still keen for coopers to take up naming rights not that it will happen but would be nice
