Best ABL players
In my humble opinion:
1) Holmes
2) Forman
ok that was the easy part, lets rule out Pero, Rees, Williams, Bauer, Maher (the best of the best!)Cioffi, Nash, Bell because of lack of games.
3)Campbell (controversial maybe but keeps doing it week in, week out)
4 and 5) Vandenbergh ang Ng, equally important to their team, Ng more naturally talented but Reggie heart and soul.
6) Paul Bell, out of left field I know but would his team have won one game without him (check out the numbers
7)Gower,yes everyone hates him but with apologies to Gerlach, Reggie, Pudds, Hawkes etc. the best defender in the league (yes I know Reggie and Williams are moe versatile but without him Sturt are also rans)
8)Bradley, you don't go from the shithouse to the penthouse that quickly unless you have a major change. Not sure if I agree with the concept of paying an import that much but wer'e not here to morally judge.
9)Pochintesta, only gets in on the strength of his 1st half of the year. Yes, I know he's had injuries but can't help feeling that Southerns improvement has more to do with the development of Clarke and Gerlach (NBL potential?)
10)Brad Davis, laugh if you will but the differance between the Mavs being 2nd and 7th or 8th (a very, very good ABA player).
Desperately unlucky: Sullivan, Gerlach and Clarke, Puddifoot (my favourite player and the only one on this list that could match it with the big boys), anyone from North (says more about how dominant they are without a clear stand out), Whitmore and Krause.
Cheers,
the good doctor.
