Erin back playing ABL?

she has knocked back a contract with the sun (wanted starter spot)and they have not been able to get a deal with another wnba team for her.

coach T reports she will be back down under for wnba season.

she will end up at canberra anyway with the national coach.

who was advising her? at least she would have been in the league and getting playing time, seems weird they would not make sure there was interest in her before she turned it down.

Is Lightning always going to have a problem signing quality point guards because they know they will be competing for court time with Angela? Bit of a shame if that is the case - missing out on great local talent like Erin!

Don't think she turned up for any trainings and then only played two games. That was $10k well spent.

It's interesting if you read the article previously posted from the Sun's coach regarding Erin's future in the WNBA, which basically states unless she was given a contract with "starters minutes" then she did not want to play. And then compare that to the article in the Sunday Mail (11/4/10) in which she has an entirely different story as to why isn't playing in the WNBA. I tend to believe the Sun's coach. Unfortunately it appears that Erin's capabilities and ambitions do not agree given the facts that there appear to be more talented players coming into the WNBA, in particular being recruited by the Sun's. Also stated that no other WNBA team appeared to be willing to offer a trade for Erin. Odd are that Erin will end up in Canberra to try and convince Coach Graf that she is good enough to get a spot with the Opal's. IMO she will be lucky to get a spot given the talent available and the fact that Harrower, Tully etc still appear to want to play on at an International level.

she was close to canberra last time.
wnba - you fall out as quickly as you fall in - its all marketing $, USA want that world title back as well.
erin might be too close to the usa factor at the sun with coach T.
erin might be a bit silly here as conn sun will have a kick ass team this year and just the experience alone might have been worth it.

I hate reading posts months/years later on and the link has gone, so here is the brunt of the story:

Thibault said Australian guard Erin Phillips won't be with the team this year. Her minutes would have been limited anyway because the Sun signed free agent Kara Lawson in February and traded for Montgomery.

Fellow guard Anete Jekabsone-Zogota is expected to start with that duo with Tan White coming off the bench.

"She doesn't want to play the role we would have for her," Thibault said. "We haven't been able to find the right taker in a deal."
