Tigers @ North Queensland Road Double
Plenty written about the Tigers injury woes following the pre-season departue of David Barlow to Spain (who incidentally is currently out injured too!).
They lost Anstey to injury first, Wortho battled injury to start the season, then they lost Knight and Crosswell has battled a foot ibnjury all season. Then Kendall goes down with a season-ending injury as well.
Well Anstey is slated to treturn this weekend in the first piece of good news on the injury front for the Tigers in quiet some time. However with his return, the Tigers lose Crosswell to injury yet again.
Crosswell has rolled his ankle - on the opposite foot to the one he has had trouble with all season! Without Kendall and Crosswell, all the ball-handling duties will fall squarely on Hodge.
"Chris has trained and pulled up all right so we're going to take him on the road and see how he goes," Westover said.
"He looked pretty good training today so, while we keep losing them [players], as long as we have a few coming back along the way that helps."
Physio Steve Evans will travel north with the club as a precaution.
Westover said while it was disappointing that Crosswell would not make the trip, the injury was unlikely to keep him out for more than a week.
"Poor Nate, he's had a hell of a time and played really well the other night and we got the win and then on Monday he rolled an ankle which means he'll miss this weekend," he said. "I guess the good news is it's not real serious and we expect him back the weekend after."
"Now he's got a bad toe and a bad ankle on each foot, which compensates each other, but his toe is better and he played 34 minutes on Saturday night so that was a good sign."
Tigers doctor Andrew Garnham said if it was one game and Crosswell didn't have to fly, he might have been able to play. "But in the circumstances it's just not quite good enough so he won't play," Garnham said.
