McKee finally wins Player of the Week
Despite a great season to date, this is his first POTW award in the NBL.
The energetic point guard scored a round-high 29 points in his team's 93-91 victory over the New Zealand Breakers on Thursday. The Hawks' win was all the more impressive because it came on the road at the North Shore Events Centre, where the Breakers had previously gone 6-1.
Adelaide's John Gilchrist was also a strong contender for the Round 11 weekly honours. Despite his team suffering a narrow overtime loss to Melbourne, Gilchrist scored 22 points as well as adding 12 rebounds and five assists.
Townsville’s Corey 'Homicide’ Williams was also in the running for the award. Williams, who has won the weekly gong twice before this season, averaged 23.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in the Crocs’ two Round 11 games - a win over Cairns and a loss to Perth.
Wildcat Luke Schenscher also impressed with his 22-point, 12-rebound effort for Perth in their home victory over Townsville.
Other contenders for the Round 11 weekly honour included Kirk Penney (New Zealand), CJ Bruton (New Zealand), Adam Ballinger (Adelaide), Mark Worthington (Melbourne), Julius Hodge (Melbourne), Julien ‘Skip’ Mills (Cairns), Nathan Crosswell (Melbourne), and Ayinde Ubaka (Gold Coast).
