Kendall out for the season; knee-recon Friday
Interesting news ahead of the 36ers-Tigers clash this weekend:
Melbourne Tigers guard Luke Kendall will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2009/10 NBL season due to a knee injury sustained at training yesterday during a routine training drill.
Kendall had scans this morning which revealed the true extent of the injury sustained to his knee. Kendall will undergo surgery for a full knee reconstruction on Friday.
Tigers Head Coach Al Westover said that it is another huge blow for the team after having an injury ravaged season so far.
"Its terrible news for Luke, it's disappointing for him and for the team. He has been working extremely hard and has been a solid performer all year, to have him go down for the rest of the season is a big loss."
“With the loss of Barlow (pre season to Spain), Anstey (currently missing for the first half of the season), Ben Knight (injured indefinitely), plus Greer, Crosswell and Worthington battling injury since the start of the season, it’s just been one of those years.”
“We would like to wish Luke all the best with the surgery and we hope he can make a full recovery.”
In better news on the injury front for the Tigers, co-captain Nathan Crosswell trained well and is likely to suit up against the Adelaide 36ers this Saturday in Adelaide. It also looks positive for star veteran Chris Anstey who is back into light training with the aim of getting back on court in the New Year.
