big weekend for lightning

2 huge games this weekend, with burston getting better each outing and jess pulling up ok both games will be critical for a top 3 finish and home final/s.

lose both and we will be looking at 4th spot only - if that.

we arent far off the leaders pace - however one more tall will be required - as tom maher only played cambage a small amount - come finals we know what he will be up to - last weekened - he just did enough to keep their noses in front and played coy a little with the talls.

bendigo will be busting their guts for finals - but lack the depth

good luck girls - we know you can do it )))

Boomers will walk all over the lightning this weekend, if Maher plays his team properly it will be an at least 20 point victory.
Heck, even if he doesnt play his best players the whole time they will still win by 20 with the development players on the court!

Come off it, this weekends games are not the be-all-and-end-all of Lightning's season. It's not even halfway to Christmas.

I think the Lightning would be happy with a 1-1 split.

A team will go as far as their point guard can take them. You know what I mean.

Yeah, but unfortunately in this case, they had to choose between the point guard and extinction of the team.

I have not always been a fan of the point guard, however, her stats for this sason have been excellent. IMO the Lightning will struggle to win a game this weekend and the problems are not with the players. A lot of questions need to be asked about the ability of the coach to recognise when players are producing on the court and not keep them on the bench (Boti has already mentioned this in The Advertiser). You only have to watch and see that, unfortunately, there does not appear to be a comprehensive game plan that can adjust to opposition pressure. Top level players do not necessarily become top level coaches!!

Check out the point guards stats last night. Not good. She is a great shooter but thats all she does and when her shots are off then they are in trouble.

She has no defensive skills at all and that is their problem. They need a point guard with some guts who will lay her body on the line.

Looks like Sam and Cayla - stats ok for half a game.
But other stats are terrible.

Can't see the Lightning beating Bulleen...Boomers too big and skilled, oh, and better coached.

She went up against a tough point guard. Harrower 33 Marino 4 need I say any more? Its also interesting to note the games where the refs dont hand it to her when she draws those pathetic fould everytime she drives

Check out the stats for the game tonight. How many turn overs did our star point guard get??? Burston did a much better job. I wonder how long she will last?

Lightning need another good defensive guard with some heart because our star definately doesnt have it!!! Credit where credit is due, she is a great shooter and very quick but when it gets tough all she wants to do is shoot and you cant blame the coach for that!!!!
