Is lack of free-to-air coverage hurting the NBL?
In the 90s, the only reason I got into the NBL in the first place was because it was always on TV. I could watch any 36ers game I wanted to and I started developing a connection with the team and the players.
Without any proper coverage at the moment, there's a lot of games you don't get to watch and as a result you kind of become apathetic towards them. There really isn't the same dismay after a loss that I used to feel in the past.
Some of these players I'm not even familiar with and have no idea what their strengths or weaknesses are.
What exactly is preventing the NBL from providing the sort of extensive FTA coverage that they used to in the past?
It seems like they are trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of the networks that actually care about broadcasting the games (and only a small handful at that) at the expense of fans losing interest due to not being able to follow their teams as closely as they would like.
