U14 Girls Club Championships

The U14 Club Championships are now well underway. after Knox beat Bulleen in the boys, who will take the title in Perth?

Link to official results: http://linky.com.au/9daqb

I would have said Bulleen should surely be the favourites, however Hills upset them in round 1 in Pool B! Dandenong and Forestville must also be in contention.

Bulleen defeated Diamond Valley in the Vic State Championship final. Also, Bulleen got there by defeating Dandenong by 2 points in the preliminary final.

Sorry rhea56, but whilst Bulleen lost to Dandenong twice during the season, when it counted in finals Bulleen got over the line whether we like it or not.

Let me clarify that in saying Bulleen "are not that good" is factually incorrect.

However I do agree with you that Dandenong have a lot of talent and perhaps a bit unlucky in not making the Vic State Final.

Eastern and Forestville are a real chance for top 4.

If bulleen win nationals with the team they've got. Junior basketball must be in a bleak spot throughout australia. They over acheived at vic vc, everyone knows that watched. Realistic position around 6 - 8th at Nationals. Dandenong best chance to win from Vic teams or SA team possibly. Get Real

Eagles and Mavs doing well but it will be Dandy for mine.
Bulleen look all over the place and from the above it seems that that is continuing in this tournament.
Would love to be there.

Forrestville Girls lost in triple overtime had the chance to win in 1st o/t from foul line. Maverick Girls win go into top 4 probably have to play Dandy for a place in GF.

Forestville don't have a player in the top twenty or thirty of highest scorers but Mavs have 4 which suggests there's a vast ability difference between the two sides.

re: U14 Girls Club Championships

That is just crap

There are so many reasons why the scorers could be that way. How about a team game huh?
Sharing? huh?

Eagles and Mavs girls should be congratulated on great results. lets hope mavs can pull off an upset!!

Ease up Feagle.
Anon 251416, Feagle has a point, that is crap.

But I'd rather have a good spread of scorers than a couple of easily identifable guns that need to be shut down.

Top 8 finish in this tournament is very good.
Top 4 finish is sensational. Congrat Coach K and the Mavs kids.

It all gets very hard today against the probable tournament winner but there's still a chance at a medal.

Never thought I'd say it but, "Go Mavs"

Eagles have 4 players in the 30 point range for the tournament and two in mid 40's, Mavs have 2 players in the mid 50's and two over 70's and a couple of mid 20's.
Dandenong have 4 or 5 players in the top scorers list of top 30 players, Mavs have 4 players in that list and Forestville zero. That is a major difference in ability and shooting.
There also is a huge difference in abilty between Dandenong and Mavericks in that Dandenong don't foul with the four Dandenong top scoring players having less fouls collectively than the two top scorers for Mavs.
Not many teams can shut down two good players effectively so good luck to the team that shuts down Dandenong with the best offence and stingiest defence.

The fact of the matter is that you can be successful in this tournament with an excellent "team" of players, and you can be successful with a team that has a couple of outstanding players.

It's up to you to make the most of your strengths and its up to your opponents to exploit your limitations.

Dandenong look to be the outstanding team this week but funny things can happen.

North look to be having a stinker. Yet to win a game.

Dandy Vs Diamond Valley Final.
Mavs an honorable but frustrating loss in the semi.
Go the Bronze tomorrow.

Great job mavs, had a pretty easy run though... fville beat the silver medalists in their pool and had a great tourny..

Imo the pools werent thought out that well, i mean hills lost 3 games (2 of their pool games) and played off for bronze..if they beat dv they cudve played off for gold.. fvillle had a tough pool and played their hard games early whereas mavs had 2 under ten and then 3 blowouts...

Well done to all the girls though.

Hills Hornets couldn't have been that bad as they defeated Forestville in the play off for a top four place and finished fourth losing to Mavs in the bronze medal game. Championships can be harsh at times but that's the way it is.

IM not saying that they were bad, clearly they were a decent team..just saying that they lost 2 pool games, even to NT and they still finished 2nd in their pool. Whereas if fville had lost 2 games, because their pool was much stronger they wudve finished 3rd in their pool and not made the top crossovers... i guess like u said thats they way it is, some get it easy and some hav a hard road from the start.

anon, some would say that the fact that they DID lose 2 pool games made their pool harder, not easier!
