Save Our Dragons campaign on SEN tomorrow

The Save Our Dragons campaign will be hitting the radio airwaves tomorrow night when group founder Hayden Ostrom Brown joins In the Paint host, Brett Phillips, on 1116 SEN.

Hayden will be live on the show between 8.30pm and 9pm, spreading the word about returning the South Dragons to the National Basketball League.

In the Paint is a new 2-hour program devoted entirely to hoops, and can be heard every Sunday night from 7pm on 1116am in Melbourne, or via www.sportsentral.com or www.sen.com.au .

Last week's inaugural program included special guests Larry Sengstock, Mark Worthington, Michele Timms, Tom Maher and Wayne Bird.

Tune in again this week to hear about Keeping the Fire Burning! For more on the Save Our Dragons campaign, hit www.saveourdragons.com.

The owners with the money have walked.
No reason to think they will be back in any form in a hurry.

That isnt the purpose of what we are doing anonymous. We understand that Cowan and Ruffy arent coming back.

They are trying to generate support for a new Melbourne based "Dragons" team to re-enter the league ASAP.

SOD - are you able to clarify as to whether Cowan and Co. still own the rights to the Dragons IP? I know they do not own an NBL licence, I am just referring to the IP on the Dragons name etc.

yes cowan and germider still hold the intellectual property of the south dragons. The other options all involve having a new name, so they only want the license, which the dragons believed they owned, but they didnt.

Thanks. So in other words, a new Melbourne team is unlikley to be called the "Dragons" unless Cowan and Germinder are involved or give up their IP?

well, unless they sell the naming rights then yes it is unlikely. What we are doing at the save our dragons campaign is trying to ensure that the name is either retained, and that the club be brought under community ownership, meaning that the fans own the club, opposed to one or multiple rich business men, who leave after a few years.

Yea good luck Dragons deserve to be back and a club should be run by members which forces them to be responsible. We wont need to see teams fold and overspend anymore so it makes sense.
