Personally, I reckon it will be a very tight affair, but the night will finish as a Sturt double

In the women, everything tells me the expected result is Eagles 67, Sturt 67, but Sturt's D is 6 points better than Eagles. D wins all the time.

In the men, lots of pressure on those Sturt boys to pull it off when the girls pip the Eagles.

Norwood 91, Sturt 93

There'll be plenty of celebrating in the leafy south-east suburbs on Sat. night, plenty of sore heads at church the next day

old timer...Sturt beat Forestville that year! They had a pretty impressive line up with Illman, Williams, Marsten, Forman, Bauer, Lomman, Byrt, Gower!

Sturt had the first week off, then beat the Eagles, had another week off and then beat the Eagles again!

Also in 2000 Woodville went staright thru, beating the Eagles in the semi after a week off, then following another week off beat them again! They too had an amazing team that year, with Willie Joseph, Whitmore, Reggie, Gilbert, Bray, Wilson, Graves and others!

Other than these 2 years, the team to go straight thru after already having a week off has gotten beaten in the Grand Final!

in 1999 North went straight thru to lose to Norwood
in 2001 West went sraight thru to lose to Sturt!
in 2003 North went straight thru to lose to Forestville.
in 2004 Woodville went straight thru to lose to Eastern.
in 2005 Forstville went stright thru to lose to Woodville.
in 2006 Sturt went straight thru to lose to Forestville.
In 2007 Norwood went stright thru to lose to North.
In 2008 Forestville went straight thru to lose to Norwood!

Really if a team has the first week off, then wins first final and has another week off, come grand final day they have only had one game in alomost a month! Not the greatest preparation. that is why I have always said that the Grand Final should be a best of 3 game series. So if the top team that has gone straight thru does get beaten, then they get the chance to still be number 1. And in a 3 game series, more often than not, the best team will win, and thats how it should be!!! at the moment, the best team is losing the grand final alot more often than not!

Looking at those results above, apart from the North team in 1999, and the West team in 2001, all the others were the best team all year but fell short in the last game and i believe the finals system has played a big part in that! I think that there has been way too many instances for BSA to ignore it...its not a coincidence!!!!
