Funny Women's Preseason Tournament Final Results
There was another fantastic day Sunday to wrap up the CLUB FINANCIAL CLASSIC. With 3 games on tap the tournament looked to come together in good form and other than the referees not rocking up to games the event went off without a major problem.
In the consolation final a hungry Southern Tigers (1-1) team faced an aggressive South Adelaide Panthers (1-1) group. Although the Tigers lead for most of the game the Panthers mounted a comeback that pushed them to victory. Final Score 63-60
The Bronze Medal Match-up found the Woodville Warriors (1-1) against the Eastern Mavericks (1-1) and although the contest was physical and tough on the floor the game was not as close on the scoreboard as all-star Cayla Francis and Siobhan O'Brien had their way with the smaller woodville side. Final Score 73-36
In the championship game the Sturt Sabres faced reigning Central ABA champions North Adelaide. After the first quarter the Champions lead 15-13 before Sturt amassed a big run in the 2nd quarter winning the quarter 21-9 and took a 34-24 lead into the changerooms. In the 2nd half north mounted a great comeback on the back of All-star Kristy Ollino hitting 7 3-pointers in the game and fininshing with a game high 24 points. It would not however be enough as allstar sisters Monique and Bridgid Bowley continue to punish the Rockets inside. In the end Sturt got over the line 58-53 in a very entertaining and enjoyable game.
