36ers talking to Crosswell

I saw in a article on gazes website (gaze.com.au)that the 36ers are rumoured to be talking to Crosswell, what do people think of him as a replacement for either Bruce or Davidson, id rather keep Bruce due to youth and potential upside, but if you have 2 of those 3 guys running the point with a import combo guard i think thats a pretty good guard rotation along with Ng and Hill in the Sg rotation

I think the 36ers need to bring Bruce back. He's got a presence that the regular person likes.

Plus he's a good looking young man who's able to become the image of the club and trust me us ladies will come to see him play.

Please Ben sign him up quick so me and my friends can keep coming to see him play.

Bruce is very popular with the girls - he is worth bringing back just for that!

He's right, Bruce is hot :P

Crosswell is about on par with Davidson, given the choice I'd stick with Davo as backup. I certainly wouldn't consider Crosswell a potential replacement for Bruce, Brucie is a starting-quality PG, Crosswell is only a starter when your next best thing is Dave Barlow. No room for all three (Bruce/Davo/Crosswell), especially if we have Ng as well.

I have heard a couple of people call Brucey a "MILF magnet"

Last year, he was hailed as a 3 point specialist (3PS). IMO we need all our guards to be 3PS's.

Defence wins championships, but you need to score a 3 in the final play to seal the game, we need a 3PS.

I don't think the Sixers can make any noise this year with Bruce as the primary point guard, nor with Ng and Hill as the only shooting guards. I think they need to bring in an import who can make an impact at both guard positions. Couple that group with an import 3, Ballinger, Burston, Holmes and a backup 4/5 and they are on the right track.

That'd be my plan from here. Something like:

Import/Crosswell?
Hill/Ng
Import/rookie or Winitana
Ballinger/Holmes
Burston/Mottram or similar

The import SF, Hill and Holmes cover that spot. Ballinger and Holmes cover PF. The Cs split those minutes. And the import PG can shift to SG if need be, and mean that the team isn't reliant on Hill/Ng holding down 48 MPG if it's not working. You'd want at least one of the imports and someone like Winitana to bring defense though as Hill/Ng/Ballinger aren't really known for it.

I'd swap Bruce for Crosswell. Bruce should be our priority and will be better this year. Probably too much pressure on him as starting PG in his first year.

and I'd rather take Horvath over Mottram

Cannot believe people want Bruce gone after 1 season. The guy is going to be a starter at the point for years.

Is it 48MPG , Isaac , or 40 ,this season ?

I agree DB5. While Bruce clearly needs to develop consistency and poise in his game, he's a good enough athlete and has the skill base to become a top notch point in the NBL for years to come. I have no idea why we would prefer Crosswell over his potential.

I'd like to see the Sixers bring in a top notch combo guard so that Bruce, Hill and NG aren't under too much pressure, but they all need to be given a chance to establish themselves. We aren't going to build a powerhouse by renting journeyman who are past their prime every year.

If Bruce was going to be a starting point for years, why the rumours that he'll give up basketball after a couple of seasons?

Camel - 40 MPG, I think.

I wasn't aware of those rumours Isaac. Why would he give up basketball in a couple of seasons when he has so much ability?

If there's truth to the rumours, could be that he's just not that interested. I don't know.

Isaac perhaps him taking the off season off will rejuvenate his passion for the game. However, I think it will be detrimental. I think he will either improve this season or be a massive flop.

Ok, well I guess we will find out soon enough. It would be a shame if Bruce doesn't stay on, because IMO he could become a key player for the Sixers for a long time. But no doubt Ninnis and Bruce himself are in a far better position to make the right call than any of us!

Isaac, would you really be more confident with Ng or Hill starting than with Bruce?

When did I say otherwise? I just haven't put Bruce in a guess at the roster because I haven't really heard anything about him being an option for months. You'd assume that they went for Gibson and now there's that story re Crosswell - they're not indicators to me that the club and Bruce are on the same page. Maybe he wants to move closer to home, maybe he's asking for too much money, or maybe he's already signed - who knows.

I would really prefer Bruce to Crosswell, are we all forgetting his first few games last season? Plus several solid performances throughout the year. For a rookie PG I think he did more than enough to retain his spot - depending on how much $$ he is asking for.

Bruce is still young perhaps he is at the cross roads of pursuing a $60k-$100k per year basketball career until he is 30 odd or moving on and getting a profession/trade/what ever and setting himself up.

Basketball in Australia is not a promising option atm for young aspiring players.

I feel Adelaide need a genuine import PG and swingman (2/3/4). Like of Mee and Brooks combo.

A 6"4 genuine PG and a 6"9-6"10 swingman that can handle when he needs to but can also guard bigs and on the perimeter.

Also I hope Ninnis is looking at Molitor locally, he is consistantly putting up good numbers with West and at 6"7 is good size.

I'd only look at Crosswell if Davidson hangs up the boots, have to give Davidson first look att he back up point spot.

IMPORT/Davidson
Hill/Ng
IMPORT/ ??????
Ballinger/Holmes
Burston/ ??????

Development Players: Kersten, Burdon, Molitor and Hoban.
