She got a lot of praises from current U.S.A. senior women's basketball coach, Geno Auriema, in their warm-up match in Connecticut (September 9, 2010) so I think she could make the WNBA next year. She will probably need another two years to develop fully so in her first season she might only get "garbage" playing time (when the outcome of the match is pretty much decided) and in her second year she might get some playing time when the game is still competitive. By her third year, she should be a starter on some team's roster.
The Seattle Storm fan in me would have loved to see her come to Seattle but with Jackson and Bishop already here, she wouldn't get much playing time since she would be a third string center. Former Seattle Coach Ann Donovan has a knack for developing centers but has moved on to coach a college team. I would have loved to see Liz being drafted by New York under Donovan, Liz would have learned a lot.
Liz reminds me of LJ (Lauren Jackson) in her early years but LJ was a lot tougher and had more finesse around the rim. But with a good coach who specializes in developing post players Liz will be an excellent player.
The advantage LJ has over many players in the world including our players here is that she is a post player who has an excellent outside game. She is like two players in one. She can play with her back towards the basket and then come beyond the three-point arc and hit a shot. She plays forward/center for us at the Storm and is a match-up nightmare for virtually every team. I think Coach Donovan should get a lot of credit for LJ's development.
