ABL Round 9 Tips and Results

Pretty straight forward in the women's this week with the exception of the Norwood/Sturt Game you could almost guarantee the results

South at Woodville
South by 30+
South too strong in this one, Woodville has no one to stop Truslove inside and Peddle/Carpenter on the outside

West at Southern
Westies by 20+
Westies all the way, will be a good match-up as neither team has a legitimate post player but Woosnam, Martin and Pawlowski will out match Tuesley, Gates and Mousley

Norwood at Sturt
Sturt by 7+
Norwood are a good hard working side but to have to contain B. Bowley, Marino and Burgess may be too much for Duke and Williams. Boothy and Walker-Roberts have been great lately but still too much to overcome

North at Central Districts
North by 60+
North are a run and gun, all offense team and Centrals have zero defense this will be a big win for the Rockets

Eastern at Forestville
Forestville by 40+
Forestville with Newley, Ranford, Mahoney and Fergus pushed West into double overtime last week and showed they had the goods to play really well, Eastern has yet to prove that, forestville will win this one easy

I see Chris Clausen is back in town, if he suits for the Lions it could be a very interesting game.

thats men's basketball, Christopher not Christine.

The Norwood/Sturt clash is interesting!!

At home I would agree Sturt by 7.

Who are the refs? This will make a big difference to the Marino flop. If they have older wiser refs, I give Norwood a good chance.

Both games Should be excellent, Sturt to get a crowd at Pasadena???

LOL, "The Marino Flop" - sounds like a pair of thongs from Kiwi (The Marino Flip Flop)

I think it may come down to if she is protected or not.

Still will be very close either way. Dont think either team has a distinctive advantage.

Rest seem fairly straight forward. maybe over inflated some of the margins.

Marino - protected?

SURELY YOU JEST! :P

How long can CABL refs be fooled by her flip flop?

Good player, but I've seen less protected species at the Adelaide Zoo.

I guess that INternational and WNBL refs are all fools as well then.

Matbe she is good at putting the defender in a bad posittion and then draws fouls.

Undermaned Forestville men by 8 over eastern. Brad Hill 40 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists. Hoban best for eagles. Good fast paced game.

Interesting with the results from last night put the ladder at:

1st West - 9-0
2nd Norwood - 6-3
2nd Forestville - 6-3
2nd South - 6-3
5th North - 5-4
5th Sturt - 5-4
7th Eastern - 4-5
8th Southern - 3-6
9th Woodville - 1-8
10th Centrals - 0-9

I think the bottom 4 will be out of the race but with 6 teams playing for the 5 spots could be a really tight second half of the season.

which team doesnt have the goods to get into the finals?

Didn't go to the game, but heard about it afterwards - a belting. Norwood were only missing Thompson AFAIK. Monstrous line from Holmes, especially when you consider his minutes played.

No 23 for Centrals is David Humphries, played U18's last season(won best & fairest on unanimous player vote), from Kadina, goes to Trinity College, had a dislocated shoulder against Sturt, starting to have a good impact

Would just like to point out that Peter Hoban didn't play for the eagles, and that it was LUKE Hoban that had a big game....was massive for him considering Dougie was still out as well.....The Hoban brothers, Dougie and Wood will look like a pretty handy frontcourt when they are all back from injury!
