DEPLETED NORTH ADELAIDE ROCKETS TAME LIONS
CLUB FINANCIAL CLASSIC - In the first game of the 2005 Club Financial Classic the North Adelaide Rockets cruised to a 79-33 victory over the Central Districts Lions. The Game started as a close contest as both teams struggled to find the net in the early going.
Although the Lions continually fell short on offence the Rockets found their mark in the third quarter, outscoring the Lions 22-4. Although the Rockets were only able to field five players for the game they were able to press and cause turnovers leading to easy scores for the Red and White.
Although out of the game the Lions regrouped in the fourth quarter scoring 18pts in the final 10 minutes and veteran guard Tracie Dawber connected on some key 3 pointers to keep the Lions in a positive state of mind despite the final score.
Lions coach Glenn Shaw commented after the game "&even though our offence was off the mark our defence showed signs of improvement, and when you play a side like the Rockets it doesn't matter which members are on the floor they will be a real challenge if you let down your guard."
Tomorrow the Rockets face off against the winner of Eastern Mavericks and South Adelaide Panthers at 4:00pm on court 1 while the Lions will face the losers between the two teams at 4:00pm on court 2.
