Sydney NBL Fantasy Owner

Dear Sydney Fans,

If you were to take on ownership of the Sydney NBL Club....

1. What would you the team name be? (possible team colours)

2. Where would you play your home games?

3. What players would you recruit?

4. Who would you employ to coach the team?

5. Major Sponsor?

6. Any other ideas.......

Let's see if we can put together a Fantasy Sydney NBL team

Sydney Kings,

Play at ent cent,

recruit asian players as imports unless nbl has foresight to exclude asians and southern hemisphere players as imports (which it won't),

Be sponsored by violet crumbles if possible,

make it free beer until opposition misses a freethrow because beer at ent cent costs heaps so money will be made back,

problem solved.

Thanks, No charge for my thoughts.

Sydney Sluts or Sydney Devils!
The NBL allowed them to get away with disregard of rules because we "had" to have a Sydney side in the comp to asure free to air TV, but we let them break the rules, got no free to air and have now seen them self disintegrate

Firepower as major sponsor as that company was built on pure fantasy

Love the thread idea Sydney.

Has to be one of the Sydney names of the past

Astronauts
Supersonics
Kings

Interesting combo from the above

SuperAstroKings maybe
AstroSonicKings

I like the Boomkins (for those WOW fans) We could have the Lion back and a funnily dressed moonkin form mascot.. and they can face off at half-time.

Play at Acer arena (aim big! this is a big city)
Or at a newly built basketball stadium on Northern beaches. Laser show and introductions at start of game and LeBron style kick-off from the flashy import.

Big import (someone like Dwayne McLain or Ebe Ere) so they can have a cool name like ooh ahhh ebe ere or DTrain. Rest of team made up of leagues most hated players.

Coach (any big name coach) has to be a yank and someone rest of the league and other coaches hate the most.

Guaranteed success again...

Acer arena would be good in a sense, but it's so far out of the way from everywhere in Sydney, razorbacks/spirit games were poorly attended in my opinion because it wasn't even in the west. Ent Cent is very accessible from all over sydney and close to restaurants, pubs etc. When the kings got 10,000 during the early 90s it was as much due to being able to do things pre and post game as it was a great spectacle.

Agree it's far out of town NBL in Guam, but when it fills up an unbelievable atmosphere. This is a fantasy so fantasize that the stadium is packed, the PA is pumping and more lasers than a Vegas disco.

Fantasize Kylie at half-time show and the Harlem globetrotters doing their thing against an Adelaide all-star bunny team if you like..

So Acer & Ent Cent are the venues most desirable to the fans?

would you pay to watch locally developed kids with a few imports??

perhaps an outdoor game? like the pheonix suns did....

local coach or imported coach?

Discount Kings

as another name for team and YES, they can play outdoors, kids parties, weddings anything..

Martin Place at lunchtime shows for the business crowd.

LOL anonymous. outdoor games...

in seriousness

Acer or Ent centre
2 big imports
BJ Carter token local/token minutes
ex Kings player as coach (Carfino,Morrisey,Heal) or big name imported coach (ie: someone who coached college game once).

the best PG in the history of the league has been to be in any fantasy.. talkin about the legendary former NBA playa Shane Heal

woulda liked to see him win some titles with KG back in the day - but at least in the NBL we got to see the legend in the flesh in action

Cal Bruton is a great guy though..(so small) met him a few times at games and always friendly and loves basketball.. 2 great things.
Seriously how could you hate the guy.

Carfino would be cool, Heal would also be cool, but heal can't really coach and carfino is unproven.

I'd say call them the Sydney City Kings, when asian players are allowed to be non-imports the west sydney team can stack themselves with Chinese, Filipino and Lebanese players and get 20,000 to every game. - Yeh that sounds silly but thousands would actually turn up based on seeing players from their own background.

The ent cent is china town so hire a token 7ft 3 chinese teenager for publicity purposes.

And give out a free oportos meals every time out. I was in san fran for an nba game and during timeouts this sort of thing gets the crowd interested as opposed to watching ridiculous dancing.

Free beer until opposition team makes first free throw would mean people not into basketball turn up.

Have you guys been watching semi-pro or something.. free food at games? as if
What NBA teams play in San-Fran?
This fantasy has gone too far.. I can't take it anymore.
Reality is kicking in, no basketball, No NBL on foxsports.. not even playing down at the half-court anymore. All too sad really.

Golden State plays at Oakland, right across the bay from San Francisco, it takes about 30 mins to get there by train.

Facebook has its pros n cons; the pros outweigh the cons when you're a 13 year old girl. The rest of the time it's a case by case thing.
