I reckon the players will come from our District U16 Comp- probably from Div1 teams. Don't forget, no names as it is U16

(Name omitted) from Norwood

(Name omitted) from North

(Name omitted)&(Name omitted)from Woodville

Yeah look I agree on (Name omitted) but I think (Name omitted) will be lucky to make it.

Lets face it (Name omitted)has been clearly out playing (Name omitted)in their last 2 matches. If (Name omitted) makes it then I don't think the best possible team has been chosen.

(Name omitted),(Name omitted) & (Name omitted)are all outside chances, I guess, but I will stick with my original line up with (Name omitted)from Sturt possibly the only other one who will surprise us all.

Except that there is good depth, talent and experience in the side, and in that case you would probably take top over bottom. There has to be a cut off point.

U would take a first year who has ability and athleticism over and above a second year with the same ability

Why does SA Metro take so long to name a team? Im sure there are some parents out there would like to book plane tickets & accommodation sooner rather than later, Vic Metro have named theirs a few weeks ago, SA Country named their teams last month.

"Agree with you there 236393."

No I don't.

Its not only about the ability, and athleticism. Its also about the possible group dynamics .

By far the greatest challenge is getting the players to play TOGETHER. The extra maturity at U/16 level of a players 12 months older should hold much greater weight than it currently does with SA teams.

Bottom age players(picked for that reason, given other criteria above) continually fail to impress in the second year.

We saw last years 18's implode with a poor group dynamic, even though they were on par with the talent from previous groups.
Will all the bottom agers who made the 16 team last year make it this year?
Time will tell, but if not, was that a good investment last year ?

Was last year a good investment - big buy get real - last year the u/16 girls came 2nd when they were tipped to come some between 7th and 11th. Coming 2nd sounds like a pretty good investment to me.

The dominance of Sturt in this age group should be reflected in having the whole starting group in the team?
This group beaten at club level by eastern by 10pts.
Perhaps all clubs need to do dribble drive or they wont get in?
Under whelmed by the lack of knowledge of the better qualities in players ( Not Picked) around in this age group.
If the coaches were coaching in the age group they would be aware of some of the issues they could have avoided. Good Luck.

Sturt 5
Forestville 2
Woodville 1
Eastern 1
Southern 1

Norwood 0

Maybe they should let the asst coaches pick the team because they are considerably more capable than the coach of doing so.
Quality players from a lot of clubs are overlooked and will continue to be while sturt runs SASI and as for looking for qualities in players, IMO, that's the last thing they look for.

Anon, most of Eastern are country kids so playing for SA country you dickhead. Sounds like the right ratio to me.

Yeah, those Sturt coaches have no clue.

Winning as many State Champs as the rest of the State combined shows they can't do anything right.

Have Sturt girls beaten Mavs this season?

Mavs have 5 girls in either u16 country or metro team.
Sturt 5 in metro.
Third on the ladder Forestville have 3 girls in either country or metro.
Fourth on the ladder Norwood have 1 country rep
Fifth - North - any country rep?
Sixth - Woodville - have 1 metro
Seventh - Southern - 1 metro
Eighth - South - nil
Ninth - West - nil

So the majority of country and metro reps come from the top 2 or 3 teams

Twice,

First game of the season. And Easter.

They haven't played with both teams having all their players yet as far as I'm aware.

Still think country girls may have the edge even with top PG now with metro, Country starting 5 is very strong, Metro depth appears stronger, it will be interesting how this plays out, guards may be Countries only weakness at the end of the week, I beleive both sides could suprise, lets see. Vic metro going for 10 straight, cant let that happen, they have made some unusual ommissions.

Top PG was clearly already with metro and played as bottom age last year and was very impressive in the GF in Perth - she's a tough little team player.

Country were also full of talent last year - its not a PG they need - - they have that already - they need cohesion and teamwork. Not the 'me, myself and I'.

Come on Country - you have the talent.
