International showdown: Continent vs Continent

Has there ever been some sort of continent vs continent tournament in basketball? I'm not talking about country vs country, but North America vs Europe, South America vs Australasia, that sort of thing.

Africa, Australasia and Asia might struggle a bit, but if we were part of Asia-Pacific we could work Penney and Marks into our roster, maybe Yao, Yi and Yue and might start to become more competitive.

Obviously Europe would be quite strong. Could split them to North and South, and North America to East and West. Might have to combine Central America with South America to help them.

Could any region unseat either Europe or North America?

Probably need some geography help there Isaac. Europe is not a continent, and South America and North America are not 2 separate continents-'America' is one entire continent.

Sorry Shin Splints and Isaac, didn't realise there were many ways of interpreting it.
If you look here :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

You can distinguish as 4,5,6 or 7 continents. Some interpretations combine Europe and Asia into one continent and another one combine the americas.

What are you talking about SKUX101? Did you even read the first paragraph of that wikipedia link you provided?

A continent is one of several large landmasses on Earth. They are generally identified by convention rather than any strict criteria, with seven regions commonly regarded as continents they are (from largest in size to smallest): Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia.[1]

Billo, go further down in the article...'The seven-continent model is usually taught in Western Europe, Northern Europe, Central Europe, Southeastern Europe, China and most English-speaking countries. The six-continent combined-Eurasia model is preferred by the geographic community, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Japan. The six-continent combined-America model is taught in Latin America, Iran and some parts of Europe including Greece, Portugal and Spain. This model may be taught to include only the five inhabited continents (excluding Antarctica)[20][21] as depicted in the Olympic logo.[22]'

There are many different models a 4,5,6 or 7 continent model. In NZ, We are taught the 5 continent model for some reason..We have the saying that all the continents end start in A and finish in A..Australia, Antartica, Asia,America and Africa

(Mod: I think you meant "start in A".)

Not sure if you quite get last laugh, but you recovered well! Wasn't aware there was so much variation in teaching but then it's not surprising given definitions for something like this are quite subjective.

Next up, Plutoids...
