Most overpaid NBA players

Good read on ESPN (we just have no comparison to ESPN for Australian basketball!) about overpaid and underperforming NBA players.

Counterfeit Money Players

Here's a teaser:

---
What a wonderful world it must be ... to play 15 minutes, score three points and grab three rebounds, and collect a cool $161,383.34 for your night's work.

Let's break that down:
$10,750 per minute
$53,800 a point

Wow.

---

Also look around ESPN's NBA site for some interesting talk about the All Star picks.

Joe Smith - Was selected #1 back n the day when rookie contracts were not controlled by the league. Signed for over $100 million over 8-9 years. Averages 3 points/game with the T-Wolves

The Doctor,

You are usually pretty much on the money with your posts but you are a bit astray with Joe Smith.

He is now in his 2nd year with the Bucks and is averaging 10.6 pts and 7 rebounds & has started 42 of 43 games he had played. I agree he has never been the superstar that is expected of the No. 1 pick but career averages of 12.7 & 7.2 over 11 years isn't too bad. His 02/03 was his worst in his career (with the Wolves) and even then he averaged 7.5 & 5

Oops! Seems he has been eating his Weaties! My post was on the money, it was just two years late...

Maybe not the MOST overpaid.

Vin Baker was up there for a while.

So many too choose from- Sprewell,Houston,Olowakandi... most players probably don't earn the astronomical dollars they make

u guys know why NBA players get paid so much. nba games are only telivised on pay tv. in asia all they watch is soccer and basketball and there is millions of asians wearing nba merchandise (worth billions of dollars. this is before u even mention the amount of nba goods sold in america -by far the biggest spenders in the world.

so yeah every single player in the NBA is overpayed. how can anyone justify giving someone 20million dollars (whether shaq or not) a year or about 100-200 thousand dollars a game? - what very lucky people earn in a year.

its just not justifiable. that is before they get money for their merchandise with their name on it.

Its a racket.

i agree NBA players get overpaid, but what about NFL players who all there job is to be a beast and block for the quarter back. NFL has become so specialised now (e.g they have got a player just to punt the ball) those contracts are ridiculous
