Penney out for Hawks, 36ers trip
In a significant blow for the Breakers road-trip beginning tomorrow night in Wollongong, NZ star Kirk Penney has not travelled with the team.
He is expected to miss games against the Hawks (Friday) and 36ers (Saturday).
Penney, who is the NBL's top scorer and the Breakers' main offensive threat, developed an infection in his nose on Tuesday and by yesterday it had turned so bad he had go on antibiotics.More from stuff.co.nz
The Tall Blacks star was ruled out of making the trip across the Tasman on medical advice and was due to receive more antibiotics via IV later today.
The Breakers will take rookie Tom Abercrombie as part of the roster and could start Phill Jones in Penney's starting SG position.
Massive dent in the Breakers chances in both games. Will be interesting to see how they play with such a big change to their rotation.
Meanwhile, the 36ers championship odds with Centrebet have blown out from $29 yesterday to $51 today after last night's loss to the Dragons.
Shame the odds for Hawks-Breakers or 36ers-Breakers aren't already out!
