Yeah you can't really take in anything without a sealed unbroken lid that is non alcoholic.
Take sunscreen, a big hat and clothes to keep cool. The main stages there isn't a lot of shade except in some parts of the grandstands.
If you wanna drink alcohol, try and line up as early as possible to get your drink tickets and generally buy two drinks at a time (I think it was a max of 3 or 4 drinks per person last year).
Go to the website and download and print the timetable as to who's playing where and when, highlight who you want to see and take it with you!
Every now and then go for a walk through the sprinklers provided!!!
And have FUN!

Last time I went to the BDO was about 12 years ago...it was 39°C, I drank about 16 cans of Coopers Draught and walked out sober without going to the toilet. Some useless info but funny

In terms of sneaking drugs in undetected, my guess is tie fishing line to the back of your tongue or a tooth and attach other end to bag of drugs, well packaged, then swallow this package and regurgitate when required. Alternatively you could stick the same package up your ass encased in a sock, with elastic end poking out.

I strongly suggest checking out Fantomas (playing at night on one of the small stages I think) at the BDO on Friday. They'll blow your mind. Awesome band and are playing their "The Director's Cut" album in full. It's their crazy interpretations of scores to legendary horror/thriller films. "The Godfather" and "The Omen" are insane.

Working a basketball theme into it their next album "Delirium Cordia" was actually going to be called "Shaq Owns U" as Mike Patton is a huge Lakers fan but decided against it when the Lakers three-peat ended.

IMO, they're the only band worth seeing on this bill but I'm not willing to pay $135 solely to see them and have already seen them three times here anyway.

Great musicians. Pity about the singer. Techically correct and everything but she just doesn't have any soul. Fantomas gets my vote but agreed a weak "unrock" lineup. You know you've got a problem when a 62 year old guy is the most rock on the bill.

It certainly is the same Mike Patton. He started Fantomas immediately after Faith No More broke up (rumours of a possible reunion at the mo). Mr. Bungle are sadly no longer with us either. Aside from Patton (Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, ex-FNM/Mr. Bungle) the band also features Buzz Osbourne (Melvins), Trevor Dunn (ex-Mr. Bungle/Secret Chiefs 3) and Dave Lombardo (Slayer).

Lombardo is busy on Slayer duties so Dale Crover (Melvins, Men of Porn, Altamont) is filling in on drums but is a legend himself. They have used the legendary Terry Bozzio in the past too to fill in for Lombardo.

I also suggest grabbing a copy of The Fantomas/Melvins Big Band Live DVD from JB Hi-Fi too. Awesome concert and great watching both drummers (Lombardo & Crover) together on stage. The actor Danny De Vito does audio commentary on it too as he's a huge Patton fan. Supposedly he's pretty drunk too but haven't listened to it.

Secret Chiefs 3 are still around. I saw them last time they were here at Fowler's Live in mid-'07. But preferred seeing them the first time they came out here in early '98.
