Majok ineligible to play until '09

Former Sudan refuge and now Australian citizen Ater Majok has now been cleared to enrol at the University of Connecticut (Uconn)

The clearance, announced by the school Wednesday night, means Majok can begin classes immediately and can practice with the team, but won't be eligible to play until the end of the 2009 fall semester.

It's a shame we couldn't get to see what he could do this season on a title contenting team.

That guy has huge goals!! Most people would have their goals to make it just to the NBA however he wants to not only make the NBA but to make it into the NBA hall of fame as well as All Star games. Big dreams! Hopefully he fulfils them.

IMO the year break will do him well, like the article stated he will have the chance to settle in, focus on his studies, and get a feel for the system. can only see benefits coming from this break.
Can't wait to see how many Aussies will be NBA players in the next five years or so.

One of the most overrated, overhyped players there's ever been in this country. Couldn't even dominate youth league in Sydney with all his physical gifts. Good luck to him, but I doubt he'll ever do more than warm the end of the bench at UConn.
