Schensch gets second POTW award for 08/09
Luke Schenscher has been awarded Player of the Week for Round 17.
Despite playing without one import after superstar Julius Hodge walked out on the team earlier in the week, the 36ers racked up a crucial pair of wins in Round 17 thanks largely to the efforts of Schenscher and moved into fifth position on the NBL ladder with a 12-11 record.Runner-up was Rhys Carter for his 25 points and OT game-winner against the Breakers.
The 216cm South Australian averaged 24.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists for the week, shooting the ball at 57% from the field. Schenscher also took out the Player of the Week award back in Round Six.
Schenscher started the week by scoring 25 points and hauling in 13 rebounds as the 36ers scored a 106-99 home win against the Wollongong Hawks on Wednesday night. Schenscher also added two assists and one steal, connecting on 12-of-25 shots from the field.
The former Georgia Tech star followed that performance with a 24-point, 16-rebound double-double as well as adding two blocks and one assist as the 36ers notched a comfortable 107-86 win over the Cairns Taipans at the Distinctive Homes Dome on Saturday night. He shot the ball at 9-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line.
