36ers v Blaze Tonight at 8:00pm

Big game tonight that will hopefully results in the 36ers wins outnumbering the losses. The preview for this game on nbl.com.au warns that Adelaide should not underesitmate the Blaze, but having almost been rolled by them at home a week ago, I dont think that is going to be an issue.

TAB rates Adelaide as big favourites paying only $1.40 for the win. ($2.75 1-10, $2.60 11+)

Sixers by 13 for me in a high scoring game.

From memory there was no radio coverage last time, so I expect we will have to settle for NBL Live scores.

The Blaze are in dissarray - and with you know who back in the line up expect to see reduced production from Harvs and the imports.
Todays GC Buletin has Brendan whinging again about not being able to use Vanderjagt in place of Frank - silly rule but thats the way it goes. His constant bleating to teh media is really starting to get old, How about just fronting up and taking the criticisms on the chin! IMO would look a lot better to ahve him take some responsibility for once.

Look for Schensh to dominate the paint and if you guys play like a team and make the extra pass you will win easily.
Im with Isaac the 6.5 line bet should be a doddle!

Positive for me I guess is the game is in Broadbeach so hopefully a high scoring free flowing game will kick start a massive NYE!!

Vandy cant play as he has already used up his quota of filling in for injured Aussies. He can now only lay if an import is out or if we cut a local. Hence he cant fill in for Casey Frank tonight.

I am going to bet on the 6+ line odds. This will mean that the Sixers will win by 6 or less or lose the game :P

but seriously I would think they would win by more then 6. We will stop Daniel Joyce from scoring this game, Harvey wont be as effective, heal will stuff up their offence. The only positive I see for them is usually they have too many bigs so their rotation is bad for them but now with less, their bigs will get more consistent minutes.

Sixers by 10

Not too many bigs....too many 'mediums' IMO

Bowen, Mac, Pero and Whitehead all play the same so with Schesher in the middle for the sixers our NBA bound Melmeth will be under the pump, look for him to foul out in about 20 - 25 mins.

Sixers by 14 after leading by a lot more and relaxing towards the end....

Arghh, disappointing end to the year, final score 103-94. We were within 3 points with 4 minutes to go but seemed unable to execute down the stretch, Gold Coast hit their free throws when they had to and that was that.

There were a few key points about the game, and reasons to why the 36ers lost:

-Bowen shot an extremely high fg %- He finished 15/23 from FG

-36ers committed too many Turnovers with the main culprits being Hodge(5) and Bruce(6)- 11 between them

-Big Luke got into foul trouble and never got into the game-36ers need his scoring and most importantly his rebounding skills

-Bowen and his ability to rack up steals. He had 8-This reinforces the 36ers lack of ball protection

-36ers didn't get to the line enough. Only went there 13 times compared to the Blaze who went there 36 times

-The 36ers had an amazing 25 Turnovers--You cannont expect to win a game by doing that

All in all I'm quite dissappointed with the loss tonight. Hodge had a great game but there is one part of his game which is starting to frustrate me--Turnovers. He had 5 tonight. I understand he also had 4 steals and 4 assists, but he has to keep his turnovers down.
We didn't shoot all that badly from the Field( 39/84=46%). Turnovers just killed us though!

Foul count resulting in free throws makes very interesting reading. 36 to GC and 13 to 6ers, with GC getting 19 more free points in a game that was decided by 9. Considering all other stat catagories were similar, this is a glaring difference. Granted turnovers were bad, but 26 more free throws? Sounds extremely dodgy to me

Too many turnovers, yes. They had about 19.
The main diff. seems to be freethrows 27/36 (75%)
8/13 (62%). Everything else is fairly close.

Gold Coast?!?

Gold Coast FFS!!!

:(

Good to see Jacob play well though. Brad Hill looked to have a very good game too.

Aaron Bruce had 11 & 3 in the first half but finished with 11&4 plus 6 turnovers. WTF Brucie?

Meanwhile GC's point-guards shoot 3-13 between them and they still get carried over the line by Bowen and Whitehead.

Very very bad loss. We HAVE to win our next two.

The 36ers have shown much consistency this season. They consistently get beaten by teams ranked below them. Takes all the gloss off the Tigers win. Disgraceful show tonight. Hodge was well contained due to Joyce throwing multiple defenders at him but what were the others doing when there were 4 of them being defended by 3 or less. I think the 36ers have an attitude problem. They went into this game complacent because of the win they just had over the Tigers. I would like to give Ninnis a good swift kick up the bum as well as he has a talented enough team to be able to work out a successful strategy to overcome the Bowen factor.

Some dramatic posts here...if you people truly believe the GC is a terrible team with Bowen on their roster then you're not very educated basketball fans! The 36ers got beat by a decent team tonight and a highly motivated offensive team at that....big deal, so did the Dragon and im sure they arent in crisis mode. NBL = upsets week in week out. The 6ers will clean up in the next few games and cement their spot in the 6. As long as we get a home elimination final, from that point we would be very hard to be beaten in a 3 game series. I know its a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinions, but to say the 'melbourne game was a waste' is just pathetic, we dropped 1 spot last night, and i dare someone to admit they believe the 6ers will miss the playoffs from THIS POINT. I just feel sorry for the Hawks, taipans and so on...

Moover, I hope you are right but I have seen little this season and the past 2 to indicate otherwise. Every time the 36ers thrill their fans with a great win like the one over the Tigers (correction, 2 over the Tigers recently) and also The Breakers in New Zealand amongst others, everyone is on a high and bragging about what a great team we have who are going to go deep into the playoffs. Then the bomb drops and they go and lose a stupid game against a lower ranked team and all confidence is lost. I don't care what anyone says about Gold Coast and what a quality opposition they are when they at the bottom of the ladder and only won 5 of 22 games. The point is that the 36ers are showing no sign of consistency that will see them through the playoffs. They are still a team that can beat any team in the league and on any given day can be overcome by a lower ranking team. They are still a team with a poor road record. Consistency will give confidence, not an odd good game.

Its sport! Sport has upsets. Some of these fans expect some fairytale run through to the Playoffs, and thats not what sport is all about. If the season started today, I have no doubts the Blaze would be in the 6, so yeah atleast we can say we got beaten by a decent team. Perhaps the only thing to take out of this is not to be gloating after a couple of wins, because every team can beat any team in this competition. Thats one of the only reasons the NBL has a heart beat, because its tight. Since Hodge has arrived the 36ers are much better and will continue to be better all the way into the playoffs. Bar the double OT game in perth, the 6ers have been very very consistant, 7-3?? point is they were probably due to lose a tight one, and with NYE and other out of the norm factors its not a tragedy etc

Come the 7th Adelaide will get back on track and make another run.
