Grizzard axed, Tigers bring back DT
Rod Grizzard has been axed by the Melbourne Tigers.
Following Saturday night's lost to the Adelaide 36'ers, the Melbourne Tigers, obviously fuming from dropping their fourth home game of the season at "The Cage," have made one of the most surprising changes in NBL history, releasing Grizzard (who was undoubtedly the Tigers best player on the night) and bringing back Dave Thomas, a member of the last two championships.
Grizzard was averaging 13.2ppg in his first season for the Tigers, starting all 19 games, but Melbourne's recent run of poor form has seen 'Grizz' outed and Thomas brought back in with the saviour tag.
Thomas was cut by the Cairns Taipans earlier this month after the club went into administration. DT was averaging 11.6ppg in far north Queensland, playing in 16 games.
As broken on Gaze TV in the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Melbourne Tigers have also shaken up the roster with the addition of Luke Kendall, who comes in as a replacement for Sam Mackinnon, after doctors told Mackinnon to not risk returning to the court this season.
The Melbourne Tigers do not play again until January 11th, a home date with the Perth Wildcats, when Thomas and Kendall will make their first appearances.
